Along with Jamie Trick making some key saves, the defence of Matt Baxter, Mike Heasman, Trevor Smith and Robert Gracie were pivotal in recording the victory. Our next match-up was against Innisfil in the semi- final. A win here for either team would assure a trip to the final. With this in mind, it was Innis- fi. that seemed more deter- mined as they dominated the game in the early going. The first period ended with Innisfil putting the only marker on the board. The second period saw Port and Innisful exchange goals. The lone marker for Port was scored by Brad Shanley, assist- ed by Ryan Puckrin and Trevor Smith. Innisfil potted two more in the third period, ending the game 4-1 for Innisfil. The Tech- star boys returned home with- out the win but received tro- phies for their great efforts. Just over a minute later Trevor Lance scored again with assists going to Mark Duncan and Jeff Tar- botton. The Port Perry lead did not stand as Woodville scored three unanswered goals in the third period to take this game. It was a close match all game with plenty of action at both ends. Good ef: fort guys - keep up the great work! : Eagles win tough 4-3 contest over Cobourg squad The Precision Construction Eagles earned themselves some respect last week, by digging out a tough 4-3 win on the road, despite some of the worst offi- ciating possible. Even with Port being short- handed twice as often as the home team, the Eagles stayed in the game all the way. Co- bourg opened the scoring in the first minute, but Ian Shrigley got that back fairly quickly, jamming one in from a sharp angle after a great penalty kill- ing rush by Sean Ellis. The hosts took the lead 2-1 late in the first period, but again the Eagles replied quickly. Twenty- two seconds after the goal Greg Thompson was on the spot to pot a short shot on another play fet up by a strong effort from El- is. Cobourg counted their third, and final marker with just over two minutes to play in the peri- od. The game was three seconds past the halfway point when Jeremy Norton went in on a solo rush and tied the game with a fine deke for the backhand goal. Bill Zaparanuik assisted on the goal, and played a solid game. From that point Port was forced to kill off 10 more penalties to Cobourg's four, but James Pa- terson helped make that possi- ble. At 9:09 of the third, the Ea- - gles went into the lead for the first time. Chad Kearns cashed in on some excellent forecheck- ing by Daryl Bourgeois and Jeff Vernon when he snapped Bour- geois' fine goalmouth pass be- hind goaltender McDermott. A solid defensive effort by the entire squad made the lead stand up for a rare win in Co- bourg. Affiliated players Thompson and Vernon turned in strong contributions and were rewarded on the score- sheet, as the Eagles were short Craig Laird, Scott Heasman, and Jason Phillips.
