| | | 1 | "A Family Tradition for 127 Years" Peewee house league Big V doubles Saturday, Nov. 27 saw only one game played in the Peewee House League. The game was between Big V and Emiel's and started out with good end-to- end play with both goaltenders getting a good workout. At the end of one period of play, the score was 3-2 for Emiel's and at the end of two periods, it was all tied up at 4-4. However, in the third period, the flood gates opened and the final score ended up at 10-5 for the Big V team. Ben Stephen- son led the attack with four goals and one assist, followed by Wade Ritchie with a hat trick and three assists. Ryan Hawkins picked up a goal and two assists while Adam Kingma picked up a goal and an assist. Ken Ellis rounded out the scor- ing by notching a single goal for the Big V team. The Emiel's team shared their scoring around, with Reid McTaggart, Kam Cooper, Joey Van Camp, Tom Boyd and Mark Sauter all picking up a goal and an assist each. Lawrence Cook picked up two assists while Chad Lance, Alex McLaughlin, Paul Brain and goaltender Jon Chambers picked up an assist each. Saturday, Dec. 4 saw all teams in action. First game of ~ the day saw Emiel's up against Laracque. Both goaltenders * played very well, especially Da- vid Bonser who was faced with many tough shots. Adam Brain played a strong game on de- - fence for the Larocque team and picked up two goals on slap- shots from the point. Joel Phoe- nix, Peter McKitterick and Tom Keeble notched singles each, with 'assists going to David Crouter, Jon Sanders, Chris Jones, David Fillion and Greg Bruton picking up two assists. The lone goal for Emiel's was scored by Mark Sauter on a nice up on Emiel's pass from Joey Van Camp. Chad Lance picked up the other assist and made some nice lead passes throughout the game. Mark Delaney made a nice div- ing stop in front of the net to stop a possible goal. Kam Coop- er played a good game on de- fence and led some good rushes. The second game of the day "was probably the best game played so far in this young sea- son. Big V tied Scala 4-4 in this very entertaining game. Goal- tenders Ryan Fraser and Chris Thompson were called upon to make some outstanding stops to keep the game close. Wade Ritchie played very well for the Big V team, making some nice passes to pick up two assists and notched a goal himself. Greg Ranieri picked up a goal and an assist while Ben Ste- phenson and Nick Ostafichuk picked up the other goals. Ken Ellis and Chris Orr picked up assists also. Ryan Hawkins was - very steady on defence and de- flected a few shots that were net bound. Tyler Wooten notched two goals, one on a pic- ture perfect pass from Scott Cunningham. Troy Hazelton rounded out the scoring for Sca- la, picking up the other two goals. Assists in this game went to Murphy Irvine, Jeremy Hall, Matt Caldwell and Tom Baker. Jeremy Pare played well on for- ward for this game and Todd Mitchell had a strong game on defence. If you want to see some enter- taining hockey, come out to the arena and watch the Peewee games. The calibre this year is outstanding and all of the boys are putting their best efforts into each and every game. The coaching staff should be com- mended on their discipline with the boys, while still making hockey FUN. YMCA floor hockey Six-Eight Year Olds On Monday, Nov. 29 the Leafs rallied back from an early 2-0 deficit to beat the Canadi- ans 7-4. Mark Morrisson led the Leafs scoring parade with four goals and one goal each by Mi- chael Shay, Greg Banks and Steve Karalash. Scoring for the Canadians were Ryan Petch with two goals and one goal each by Kyle Bow- ers and Ryan O'Leary. Darryl Young and Timothy Cruick- shank played outstanding in goal for the Leafs stopping point blank shots from James Do- naldson, Peter Sheppard, Kale Thomson, Keenan Geer and Boston Kowalczyk of the Cana- dians. Nine - 11 Year Olds On Monday, Nov. 29 the Leafs and Canadians played to a 7-7 tie game. Ryan Appleton led the Canadians with three goals and one goal each came from Trevor Doan, Jason Lown, Daniel Plumpton and Jason Donohue. Scoring for the Leafs were Craig Cannon with three goals, results Doug Town with two goals and one goal each by Joshua Park and Jon Rogalski. *Please Note: with two weeks of games remaining in the first half of floor hockey the YMCA is preparing for the second half of 10 games to start the first week of January 1994.
