16 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, December 14,1993 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Sorry to report that Mrs. Flor- ence Larmer is a patient in Port Perry Hospital. All of your many friends hope that you will be feeling much better by Christmas time. Mrs. Lleyd Wright and her daughter Leslie Wright of To- ronto attended the funeral of her uncle Rev. Clarence Fergu- son in Ennisfail, Alberta. It was great that they were able to rep- resent the Ferguson family at this time. A special guest was present at St. John's Anglican Church on Sunday morning when the Right Rev'd Bishop Douglas Blackwell of Whitby took the service. Mrs. Blackwell also at- tended. Several from this area at- tended the special Christmas service held at the Scugog Shores Museum Church, Scu- gog Island on Sunday evening. Following the traditional Christmas service which fea- tured much singing, a social time was enjoyed. The Pathfinders have bee busy! They were in two craft shows and did very well - one at Caesarea and the other at the Rec. Centre. They are planning a trip to Ottawa. The group [wil i] would like to thank the Green- bank Pathfinders for coming to their meeting on Nov. 22. Some of the Pathfinders helped to serve at the Lioness Dinner re- cently. For a Christmas party they are planning to go the mo- vies and dinner. There were 11 tables at the weekly card party with the fol- lowing winners: Ross McRo- berts, Richard Manns, Vera Fawns, Pat Porrill, Nerta Mas- ters, Teresa Berkers, Verna Robinson. Draws were won by Charlie Stapleton, Betsy Stani- land, Norman Rohrer, Carl Gimblett, Edna Manns and Dorothy Archer. Blackstock Women's Insti- tute Meeting on Dec. 1 took the form of a pot luck dinner held at the United Church. President May Shortridge welcomed 13 members and five ners for 1994 were received. Several donations were made. Merry Christmas wishes to all. Meeting closed with singing of O'Canada. Lois Luke P.R.O. Guests for the weekend of Pathfinders planning trip to Ottawa Harold and lois Luke were Catherine Morris, Luke and Jackie of Ottawa. They enjoyed visiting Catherine's parents.
