I would like to take this opportunity to in- form your readers of a new youth program beginning in January sponsored by the An- glican churches in Scugog. We asked all the teens we knew what they wanted and this 1s what we came up with. We will get in speakers to talk on subjects of interest to the teens, and there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions. We will be holding these infor- mation nights monthly on Sun- day nights at the Anglican Church Hall at 266 North St. starting at 7:30 p.m. Our first speaker will be Mr. Bryan Davies on Jan. 16. His topic will be: Is it Legal to Smoke Marijuana? or Drugs and the Law. Mr. Davies is a well-known criminal lawyer and will be able to give us pre- cise, up-to-date information on exactly what the law has to say about recreational drugs, and what is likely to happen if you get caught breaking the law. (This will not be a sermon). Our second speaker, on Feb. 20, will be Dr. Dan Obedkoft, who will answer any questions anyone has ever wanted to ask a doctor (questions may be anony- mous). After that, it's up to the teens. We want to hear from you about what subjects you would like us to cover, and we'll find an expert in the field to answer your questions. We believe that people are more likely to make intelligent life decisions, decisions that will bring them lasting happi- ness, if they are well informed. Otherwise, they are guessing in the dark and their chances of success are pretty slim. We look forward to seeing a good crowd of Scugog teenson Jan. 16. Yours truly, Michelle Bull LETTERS TO THE EDITOR The Port Perry Star encourages our readers to make use of the letters to the editor column to express their opinions and viewpoints on just about any subject, as we feel a lively letters column helps make a better community newspaper. We insist, however, that all letter writers sign their name. Sorry, no anonymous letter will be printed. ~ ( DJ TAYLOR [ ooo INSURANCE BROKERS LTD. We recently saw Showboat in Toronto, also Miss Saigon, it was a beautiful evening and we enjoyed it thoroughly. But - we have enjoyed the Millar Lights as well and sometimes much better. We appreciate the self- discipline training and long hours spent in a production of this calibre.
