When we arrived we were told that the Peterborough team had a record of 30 wins, zero losses, and five ties. That was all the boys needed to hear. Port scored the only goal of the first period, a Scott Jeffrey boomer, unassisted. In the second period Port took a 3-0 lead, Derek Tindall with helper from Adam Hobbs and Adam Jones and then on a pow- erplay, Casey vanSchagen from Adam J. and Derek. Early in the third, Adam H. made it 4-0 with assists to Adam J. and Seth Gray. Late in the period Peter- borough tried to mount a come- back as they scored two quick goals but Adam J. picking up a loose puck created by Jon Froats forechecking, found the empty net for a final 5-2 win. A great game by Shane Savage in goal and our defence; Wyatt, Jeff, Casey and Glenn: also strong forechecking and back- checking by our forwards. On Wednesday, Dec. 22 the Legionaires hosted their annu- al tournament. Eight teams met at the Port Perry arena to determine a champion. In Port's first game they met the Cedarhill team from Scar- borough. Cedarhill got on the board just 38 seconds into the game with a breakaway. Just one minute later however, Jon Froats found the mark for his first of the game from Seth Gray and Derek Tindall. At the four minute mark, the same boys did it again from a scramble in front of the net, Jon getting his sec- ond goal of the game. With just over a minute left in the first pe- riod. Wyatt Park passed to Der- ek who made the perfect break- away pass to Seth who with a little shift to his right made no mistake and put Port ahead 3-1. Just under the eight minute mark of the second, Jon re- ceived a pass from Derek and Seth in the corner and made no mistake netting his third of the game. Ahat trick for Jon, way to go! Forty seconds later, Scott Jef- frey scored on a pass from Adam Jones behind the net. An assist also went to Adam Hobbs. Ce- darhill then put on the pressure but were unable to score as Dann Lee was unbeatable on a Cedarhill powerplay and a breakaway. Near the end of the period the Legion- aires scored two goals in 14 sec- onds to put Cedarhill away, the first by Derek from Seth and Jon and the other by Seth from Derek and Wyatt.
