« 12- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, January 4,1994 « ¥ 4 ae a News of interest to our rural neighbours in Scugog Township Hn § Florence Ashton Happy New Year, everyone! Now that the holidays are over, we can settle into our regular routine again. As most people were caught up in the excitement of Christ-' mas and New Years, some in our local area were saddened by the passing of loved ones. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Wilma Lynde and her family in the passing of Jim Lynde, af- ter a lengthy illness, at his home. His funeral was conduct- ed from Carson's Funeral Chap- el, Brooklin, the day before Christmas. Jim was well known and highly respected, having spent his entire life in the Chalk Lake-Ashburn area. We will miss Jim with his quiet and pleasant manner. The Knight family celebrated Christmas at the Community Centre on Monday, Dec. 27, with the entire family in atten- dance. Belated birthday wishes to these ladies: Florance Smith, Church td Welcome 1994. I'm not mak- ing resolutions this year but am setting some goals which I may or may not meet. For instance since I have just become a curl- er, I would like to just once put the rock where my skip tells me. I would like to shoot all my golf games in the low 90s or mid 80s. I would try not to wind anything around the lawnmower blade that shouldn't be there (my golf practice net will never be the same).
