The four-day event, being held on two consecutive week- ends, begins this Saturday. Events being held each day of the festival include hot air bal- loon rides, and buggy and sleigh rides. Hot drinks and food will also be available at outdoor ven- dors. On the first weekend, the boys and girls of summer will be back at the ball diamonds dur- ing the Black Labels Snowball Tournament (slo-pitch in snow). Anglers can participate in the annual Lions Club Fishing Der- byon Saturday,Jan. 15. Also being held that day will be an ice and snow sculpture ex- hibition. Five ice sculptors will be chipping frozen water into works of art while local students will be packing snow into inter- esting sculptures. A unique indoor and outdoor fashion show will also be held that day. Inside the Latcham antre will be a show of indoor fashions available at local mer- chants. Outside, the show will feature outer wear such as snowmobile suits and Paula Lishman knit furs. A broomball tournament hosted by the Kinsmen Club at the Ice Palace, a demonstration of figure skating techniques by local skaters, and a hang glider demonstration will also be held ondJanuary 16. Although many of the carnival events are free, people wearing a button will re- ceive discounts at most of the admission events.
