a i oni rn ame AAS or SRA i SORIA a i oP 5 Evelyn "A Family Tradition for 127 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, January 11,1994 - 29 Genevieve Cole passed away on Saturday, Nov. 27,1993 of a heart attack at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. She was born Sept. 7, 1909 on the family farm of her late parents Wesley and Jennie Beacock. The fifth child to be born on the farm on Beacock Road in Scu- gog Township Ward IV formerly Cartwright Township. Genevieve received her edu- cation in Blackstock and was one of the first students to enter the new Blackstock High School when it first opened its doors. After schooling she worked for Chancellor Bowles who was Dean of the University of Toron- to. Later, working at Hamilton Woolen Mills. She met her husband to be be- fore World War II the late Thos. Cole whom she married on April 20, 1946. They lived at 241 Mary Street, Oshawa. In 1953 they built their home at 91 Jones Ave., Oshawa where she lived until August 1992 when ill health forced her to move to the Uxbridge Health Care Centre. Here she resided until the week before her death. Her house was sold in May of 1993. At this time a very large burden had been hited from her shoulders. Genevieve was a member of Simcoe St. South United Church where she attended reg- ularly until about four years ago. She and her late husband enjoyed antique auctions where they often purchased cookie jars, pickle cruets and silver- ware, etc. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Genevieve is survived by a sister Olive of Port Perry, a brother John and his wife Mary of Lindsay, a brother Les and his wife Grace of Port Perry, a sister-in-law Florence of Port Perry. She was predeceased by two brothers, Adelbert and Lloyd and a sister Margaret. She is survived by several niec- es and nephews.
