The Madills in Robinglade unfortunately had a snowmo- bile stolen during the day last Wednesday. Mr. Madill thought that through this article many would be alerted about these problems and everyone could take extra precautions 'with their machines. Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Clarence Cameron. Everyone in the community wishes to express their prayers, support and good wishes to Rob and Marilyn Blair as their eld- est son is receiving treatment in hospital. Fred and Jesse had just visited her last summer out west. Happy Birthday wishes this week to Heather Wray. Seagrave Church News The church service on Sun- day was on "Coming to Wor- ship". The Sunday School theme was "We are called to fol- low Jesus!". The choir sang "Holy God we praise your name", accompanied by the or- ganist Muriel Jebson. Next Sunday will be Cove- nanting of the church officers, when all who hold an office are encouraged to attend. The Sunday school children are having a skating party after church this coming Sunday, Feb. 6 at the home of Kate 'McDonald on the river in Ro- binglade Estates. The Sunday school is hosting a pancake breakfast following church on Feb. 13, 1994. New prospective church members are reminded that the dates for Church membership classes are Feb. 22, March 8, 15,22, 29 and April 5. That's it for this week. Stork busy in area last week Mrs. Rita Stickwood opened our church service by Binging "Walking in the Sunshine of His Love". This was so timely as the glorious sunshine of this very cold day was really streaming through the beautiful church windows. Later she again sang "Calvary Love". Rev. Shep- herd's sermon was "Responding To The Word". We now have a beautiful clos- ing Benediction sung by every- one "Go Now in Peace; Never be Afraid". This sums up just what all the church service means to each and everyone. The evening UCW unit will meet in the church on Wednes- day, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. The Afternoon Fidelis Unit meets on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 1:30. This change was made so we can attend the UCW Presby- terial Meeting in Queen Street Church, Lindsay on Feb. 2 at 9:30 a.m. The stork was busy in this area last week! There is a new addition to the Foster family. Samuel John arrived on Wednesday in Port Perry. This is a new brother for the twins of Cathy and John Foster. Marie and Rodd Foster are the proud grandparents. Bill and Tina Raines wel- comed their first child, a baby daughter, Rebecca Marie. She is the first grandchild for Pat and Neil Raines and a great granddaughter for Isobel and Morely Raines. Congratula- tions to everyone. Mrs. Dot Hooker and daugh- ter Dana joined the Greenbank Pathfinders for a camping weekend at Camp Samac. They enjoyed sports, games and good things to eat! Mr. Ray Hooker motored to Northern Michigan for a week of snowmobiling. Don and I en- joyed babysitting for Minnie, or rather dog-sitting. The February Euchre Party will be held in Greenbank Hall on Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. Greenbank Choir practice be- gins on Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. New members welcome. Our Youth Group Annual Spaghetti Supper is on Feb. 6, 4:30-7 p.m. - Beat the Winter Blues Come out to the warm tropi- cal isle at the Greenbank Hall on Feb. 26. This "Hawaii" theme dance will melt away the winter blues and all proceeds will help maintain the Hall and park. Tickets are $20 a couple. Phone 985-3723. Invite your friends and make up a table. (Limit 100 tickets, so phone early.) This weekend, the Green- bank Lions Club will be selling 5,000 hour light bulbs as a fundraiser to help fight curable blindness and to help fund local community projects. As a new club, we appreciate your sup- port and are offering a great buy. A pack of 10 long-lasting bulbs for $10. The next Lions Club meeting is Wednesday Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Hall. Come out and see what this Club has planned to help stimulate new community initiatives. The Folk Music Society presents "Willie P. Bennett" at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19. This will, as always, be another sellout, so phone early (985- 8341) to obtain your tickets. The Greenbank Euchre night 1s Friday, Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. sharp. Residents beating cold by travelling Utica I'll just bet that most of you are glad that January 1s over. Now we'll just have to wait for the groundhog to tell us if we'll have six more weeks of winter or not. Personally, I'll take the cold and snow any day over the stuff that we had last Friday. Due to the icy conditions around the Utica Hall on Fni- day, we decided to cancel the eu- chre and I apologize to anyone who may have been inconven- ienced by that decision. We hope for better weather in two weeks when the next euchre 1s scheduled. Church and Sunday School this week will be held in Utica at 11 a.m. and will be following by the Annual Meeting. The UCW will meet on Tues- day, Feb. 8 at the home of Grace Kirk, starting with dessert and refreshments at 1 p.m. The word for roll call is "love". Happy Birthday to Emma Syvret who is six years old on Wednesday. Mr. Ted Richardson has tak- en a couple of months and is touring the South Pacific. He spent time in Hawaii then on to Australia and will be attending the Fleet Air Arms reunion in New Zealand and also plans to visit Iiji before returning home in mid-March. [t's cold out there so remem- ber to feed the birds. in Scugog Township Students from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Port Perry tried to cure the winter blues with a beach party on January 27. Students and staff came dressed in their beach at- tire to take part in some fun and games at the school. Our sympathy is extended to Margaret Morrow and family on the death of Vernie. Second Scugog Scouts The Second Scugog Scouts will be holding a bottle drive on Scugog Island on Saturday, Feb. 12 beginning at 9 a.m. Please leave bottles at the end of your driveway if you don't want to be disturbed. They will cover as much area as they can, depending on volunteers and weather conditions. Scugog Island United Church, 19100Island Road Thank you to all groups and committees for submitting your annual reports. The church has many meet- ings planned this week. Hope- fully, the weather will co- operate. The Lectionary Bible Study Group will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 1at 1:30 p.m. at S.I.U.C. The Maundy Thursday Ser- vice Committee will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. at S.I.U.C. The Gruce U.C.W. will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. at S.1.U.C. The Head U.C.W. meets at the home of Helen Redman on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. Roll call - bring an article for the craft show or an idea for a craft. Choir practice will be held on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. The Youth Group will meet Bottle drive on Feb. 12 on Friday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. at S.LU.C. Looking ahead to the remain- der to February: The Stewards will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at S.I.U.C. The Scugog Island Congrega- tional Meeting will be held on Monday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at S.I.U.C. The Sunday. School will be sponsoring a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at the Island Hall from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. This will be a traditional Shrove Tuesday menu of pancakes, syrup and beverages. Please sign up on the sheet at the back of the church or call Karen at 985- 8871 if you are able to come. Do- nations will be gladly accepted to cover expenses. The Ash Wednesday Service will be held following the Pan- cake Supper on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. at S.I.U.C. This will mark the beginning of Lent for our Pastoral Charge. The Official Board Annual Meeting will be held on Mon- day, Feb. 21 at S.I1.U.C. at 8 p.m. Our Pastoral Charge will be conducting the service at the Nursing Home on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. The Thinking Day Service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 9:45 a.m. at S.I.U.C.
