Both teams will match up this coming Sunday to resolve this issue. In the first game of the day Blackstock Brewers blanked Emmerson's Insurance by a 2-0 total. The first period remained scoreless with both teams hav- ing their chances on breaka- ways but to no avail. It wasn't ~ until late in the final half that the Brewers finally got on the board when Ron Wagg and Gord Bryans set up Ron Short. With 2:30 left to play in regu- lation time, Tom Wotten from Wagg put the icing on the cake. Dave Dalton picked up his first shutout between the pipes for Blackstock. Monsma Electric also picked up a shutout for goaltender Jim Raaphorst as they downed the Framer's Gallery 3-0 in a penal- The Scugog Baseball Associa- tion is gearing up for its third season in Scugog Township. A third diamond at the Port Perry Fairgrounds will be run- ning this year to accommodate the teams. The backstop for the new diamond was donated by the Royal Orange Lodge. Not to be outdone by the other two games, the final of the day had Woody's Auctions keep pace with Brooklin by blanking B&R 2-0 with Rick Lees record- ing the shutout. The first period had Woody's ahead by a single marker which came off the broom of Neil Woo- drow. B&R tried to come back into this one and had several op- portunities to do so but they fell just short each time. In the final game the lo- cal squad won 6-2 on four goals by Grant McLaughlin and singles by Rick Evans and Rick Trotter. The high singles at the bowling lanes were N. Jackman with a 300; J. Wilson Sr. with a 352 and L. Haugen with a 318. 20 YEARS AGO Wednesday, February 13, 1974 The Flamingos won the first round of playoffs defeating Frankford 3-2. The Bantam As finished first in the Lake- shore Group defeating Newcastle 10-9 in the final game. Goal scorers were Rick Evans, Mike McQuade and Larry Elson with two cach and singles to Ed Olsen, Stu Cochrane and Bill Bridge. The Atoms defeated West Rouge 4-0 on goals by Wilbur, Vernon, Storry and Horton. The team then went on to defcat Bay Ridges 7-1 the next night on goals by Storry, two, Williams, Wilbur, Potts, Vernon and Healey. The rink of Jim Baird, Jim Davidson, Ken Middleton and Ralph Sommerville won the annual Lake Scugog Lumber bonspiel. 15 YEARS AGO Wednesday, February 14,1979 A Port Perry rink won the District 15 Tank- ard playdowns in Peterborough. Winning members included Clara Martyn, Norma Ken- ny, Jan Towns, Donna McNamee, Phyllis Geer, Kathyrn Gundry, Judy Latta and Louise Haugen. The Redman Srs. won the consolation of the Orillia Tournament. The PPHS team de- feated Aurora in the final 67-50. George Cope, 22 points, and Mike Patton, 12 points, led the team in scoring. The Atom house league player of the week was Jim Jackman and the Atom Select player of the week was Karl Durham. Stone Real Estate Peewees dropped their match to Uxbridge 5-2. Ian Dickson from Ke- vin Fowler and Fred Cockerton from Jeff Wallace accounted for the Port Perry scoring. The Novice All-Stars were tournament champions in Markham defeating Ottonabee in the final. John Lally had four goals, Brad Menzies, one goal, three assists; Mike Sorely, one assist and Warren Geer, one assist. 10 YEARS AGO Tuesday, February 14, 1984 The Atom As broke a two-game losing strcak defeating Uxbridge 10-1. Scoring for Port Perry was Jan Heyes, three goals, one as- sist; Dan Slugget, four assists; Scott Menzies, one goal, three assists; Mark "Andrews, two goals, one assist; Greg Fitzgerald, one goal, two assists; Jason Cochrane, two goals, one assist; Brad Moase one goal, two assists; Jeff Parry, two assists; Mike Feasby, two assists and Steve Laird, one assist. YMCA floor hockey Six-Eight Year Olds On Monday, Jan. 31 the Leafs on two goals by Timothy Cruick- shank in the last few minutes of the game edged the Canadians 6-5. Also scoring single goals for the Leafs were Mark Morrisson, Danny Halward, Aaron Bray and Michael Jehu. Scoring three goals for the Canadians was Keenan Geer with Kyle Bowers and Ryan Petch getting one goal each. On Monday, Feb. 7 the Cana- dians and Leafs battled to a 7-7 draw. Danny Halward led the Leafs with three goals and two goals each by Mark Morrisson and Timothy Cruickshank. Ryan O'Leary had two goals for the Canadians with one goal each by Travis Puckrin, Kyle Bowers, Josh McCabe, Mathew Krempowich and Keenan Geer. Nine-11 Year Olds On Monday, Jan. 31 the Mighty Ducks beat the Pan- thers 8-2. Scoring for the Ducks was Steve Doam with three goals, David Halward with two goals and one goal each by Bos- ton Kowalczyk, Richard Brazier and Jason Lown.
