4 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, February 22,1994 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Council considers user fees for some township facilities In an effort to reduce costs, Scugog council is contemplating levying user fees on municipal facilities. Items under consideration in- clude ball diamonds and soccer fields, boat launches, the use of the Palmer Park gazebo for weddings, and licensing food vendorsin the park during tour- naments. These suggestions came for- ward during a recent closed door meeting of council. Council is seeking ways to pare down the costs of running the municipality. It is attempt- ing to improve revenues as well as reduce costs in the operation of a number of municipally-run facilities. Mayor Howard Hall termed the topic "a philosophical dis- cussion" to find areas where a savings could be made. "We're looking at anything and everything to do with tax THE 'LAST CHANCE TO SAY GOODBYE TO WINTER' SALE Don't miss this great event! money," hesaid. "We must look at ways to make the whole system work better and fairer."
