The line of Nick Pelyk, David Gainey and Blayne Kinnunen were getting their chances due to some nice passing but just couldn't convert them. Blayne Kinnunen was throwing his weight around out there mak- ing some Mooretown players a little nervous. It was nice to see most of the Legionaires Peewee "A" hockey club from Port Perry taking in this game after they tied Mooretown 5-5. : Alex Wordley set up Nick Pe- lyk cruising in front of the Mooretown net and the goal- tender just got a piece of it. The whole Port Perry team were all pulling the same way from their centre to their goaltender. Deryk Campbell was being al- lowed to freewheel a bit and he was getting some good chances in close. Ryan Moynes, Scott Harper, Chris Jones, Ryan McQuade and Aaron Chambers were playing well on the Port Perry blue line keeping body and soul together. Scott Harper, Blayne Kinnunen and Ryan McQuade, the little guys?, were all hand- ing out some really big hits. Alex Wordley and Brad John- ston took the play into the Mooretown zone and Travis Pickard just missed the top cor- ner to still make it a scoreless game. Port had Mooretown hemmed in their own zone at 3:06 but Mooretown got away without any damage being done. As the second period end- ed the score was still 0-0. The third period was a back and forth affair with Port Perry playing disciplined hockey and working as a team. Mooretown had the edge in play but Port didn't roll over and play dead ei- ther. Aaron Chambers made a good defensive move deep in the Port Perry zone and dumped the puck down the ice to take the pressure off. Ryan McQuade made a sliding poke check to break up a Mooretown rush. Travis Pickard was in close at 8:11 and David Gainey was sent in alone by Nick Pelyk and Blayne Kinnunen but there still was no score in the game. Mooretown was handing out some punishing body checks also and Blayne Kinnunen and Scott Harper along with Ryan McQuade bit the bullet a few times themselves. The game was still scoreless at the end of the third period and "don't leave yet, folks, this thing's into overtime". Mooretown came out hard again in overtime but they couldn't score on the Port Perry goaltender either. At 9:40, the Legends Kid Justin Sheehey was in close and let a good shot go but he came away empty- handed. At 8:01, Brad Johnston launched a hard shot from the point that just missed the top corner. Port had to play catch-up hockey now and get something going and in a hurry. David Gainey, Brad Johnston and Scott Sanderson were playing tough along with Alex Wordley, Travis Pickard and Blayne Kinnunen trying to get the equalizer. Port Perry was waiting for Mooretown to make that one mistake and slap it home to tie this thing up. Port Perry had the pressure on for a good three minutes and David Gainey lugged the puck into the Mooretown zone while Port pulled their goaltender in favor of an extra attacker with just over a minute remaining in overtime. Brad Johnston took control deep in the Mooretown zone and dropped a little pass back to David Gainey and see you later, yes! Gainey threads the needle and makes a night deposit into the far corner to tie thegame at 1-1. The game ended in a one all tie and it took a complete team effort to pull this one off. Two overtime games in two days, whew! Nice going, Port. Next Overhead Doors game is Friday night at 7:30 back in Mooretown. See you there.
