Sure seems like it has been a long winter. However, folks, yes the weather is warm- ing up and spring is upon us. The Cartwright Minor Ball ex- ecutive have been busy working all winter long in preparation for another season of ball. One of the final arrange- ments to be made is preparing umpires for the ball games. This presents an opportunity for some of the youth who reside in Cartwright Township to earn some extra cash this summer. No experience is necessary. Cartwright Minor Ball will train you to be an umpire. There are two requirements that need to be adhered to. You must be willing to make a time commit- ment of at least one evening per week, from late May until the end of August (family holidays excepted). You must also attend an umpires' clinic on Saturday, May 7, which will be run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The clinic will be held at the Blackstock Town Hall, which is located on Old Scugog Road in Blackstock. Those who have umpired in past years, and would like to umpire again this year are also required to attend. Coaches are also welcome to attend, as this is an opportunity for you to brush up on your rules of the game. Please call Steve Kings- well at 986-0620 to register to attend.
