Ladies first prize went to Ruby Smith of Raglan, second Olive Ormiston. Mens first Mac Allbright, second Gor- don MacDonald. Lone hands John Midland and Bertha Cat- tyn. 50/50 draw won by Laurre- na Bright. Lucky door prize winners were Irene Fielding and Lloyd Smith. Next euchre at the Community Centre will be on Thursday evening May 26. : There was a good atten- dance at the Brooklin Horticul- tural meeting on Wednesday evening. The meeting was chaired by Claudette Wintjes. The game "Fun with Flora" was conducted by Betty Van Buuren and enjoyed by all. We were all treated to a beautiful slide pres- entation and commentary by Eileen Slute of the beautiful flower gardens in Europe. Ei- leen, accompanied by Eleanor McCallum, travelled to Europe last September. May 25 will be the spring flower show and general meet- ing. Flower shows always stir up a lot of excitement amongst the members when one tries to select the best possible speci- men from their gardens to com- pete against other fellow mem- bers. If you have never entered in a flower show, just try it - it's lots of fun. Just another reminder of the plant auction on Tuesday, May 17 at Grass Park, Brooklin. Rain date is May 19. Come out and support your local Horticul- tural Society. The Eleanor Knight Group of the Women's Missionary Socie- ty will meet at the home of Ray Death on Wednesday evening at8 p.m. Many willing workers turned up on Saturday to help tidy up the church grounds, as well as cleaning windows, etc. Every- one was treated to hot dogs and homemade pie. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated on Sunday, June 12. On Saturday, June 11, there will be a Flower Festival and Tea at Burns Church from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The theme will be "God's Creation - A Singing Faith". Each arrangement will depict a hymn. Plants for sale, scrumptious food and a silent auction of the arrangements. Tickets $6. Anyone who would like to participate in preparing an arrangement, come to the church on Friday, June 10, noon to 7 p.m. Grant and Sheila Parrott at- tended a family reunion on Sat- urday afternoon at Mé. Zion Community Centre, Visiting with Bérnice Gard- ner recently were Isabel Dixon, Jennie Johnston, Grace Hop- kins and Mary Briscoe. On Sunday evening, several from Ashburn enjoyed the Mu- gic Night held at Mt. Zion Church. See you next week, folks. J. The Legion also donated $10,000 last fall for a new piece of equipment called a Laryngoscope which is used in the operating room.
