Membership renewal was discussed and a drive is being initiated to contact members and former members. The meet- ing was pleased to hear that the arty raised more than $100,000 at an appreciation night held for Bob Rae in Toron- to. The surprise was the atten- dance of a considerable number of business and financial people whose presence does not usual- ly grace an N.D.P. fundraiser. Several volunteers were hon- ored for five, 10 and 15 years of service to the organization. Fif- teen-year volunteers honored were Edith McLaughlin and Marj Jackson. Ten years of service have been provided by Marlene Blain, Barb Bracken, Jean Cole- man, Jim Emerson, Doris Hill, Marion Lee, Bob Martin, Carol Morrow, Marj Pearce, Alice Spence, Tina Wolters, Jim Mar- tin, Minnie Martin and John den Boer. The year-end statistics for the organization were also released last week, showing Community Care volunteers spent more than 6,000 hours servicing 379 clients in Scugog this year. While the organization saw 79 new clients during the year, 47 were discharged, leaving 411 on file. One hundred and thirty-four volunteers are currently on staff at the organization with 23 new members joining this year. These volunteers completed 12,949 tasks this year, 300 less than the previous year. Transportation and Meals on Wheels were the two most used services of Community Care this year. Transportation was provided for 4,608 tasks for close to 3,000 hours of work. This was up by 500 tasks from last year. Meals on Wheels were delivered 3,317 times over the ear, taking volunteers 713 ours. The Meals on Wheels de- liveries was consistent with last year's numbers. Other services used by clients were 573 Wheels to Meals, 272 home help tasks, 204 home maintenance calls, 85 errands, 168 visits, 1,666 telephone reas- surance calls, 1,485 information and referral calls, 692 foot care calls and 79 form preparations. - BE aaa
