Pine Valley, nestled on 66 acres, is surrounded by an addi- En tional 100 acres of rolling farm hills. Owned by Terry and Rob- in Duke, the fishing spot offers four ponds to its visitors, three of which are stocked. Fly fishermen can try their luck in a catch and release pond, or in a pond in which they pur- fly fishing or any other type of casting. The third pond is open to all types of casting, where what is caught is tobe purchased. Brook/speckled and rainbow trout abound in the three ponds. The fish also spawn in the area, allowing the fish to continue to multiply. During the past five years Mr. Duke has placed 1,000 rainbow trout in the spring-fed ponds and said he could only guess that there are thousands of brook trout. Mr. Duke and his wife Robin bought the property seven years ago but only opened the facility tothe publiclast year. While allowing fishermen to come to their property and catch their dream fish, the Dukes are determined to keep the area natural. The spring fed ponds are kept safe from run-off as the lawns are not sprayed with chemicals and all fishermen on the premises must use barbless hooks for the safety of the fish. The Dukes also have a policy to protect the trout in their ponds, that any fish over three pounds stays in the pond, to en- sure future big fish. Anything smaller is purchased at 35 cents perinch.
