On June 1 at 1:30 p.m., the Blackstock W.I. Meeting was held in the Blue Room of the United Church. Our president, Mrs. Pat Sleep welcomed 16 members and four visitors to the June meeting. Grace was sung and a dessert lunch was served by the com- mittee. It was a pleasant sur- prise to have Mrs. Janet Mantel at the W.I. meeting. We wish you continued good health, Jan- et. The Ode and the Mary Stew- art Collect were repeated. Secretary Carol Thornton read the minutes of the last month's meeting. Answered well. Mrs. H. Martyn introduced guest speaker Sergeant Gwen Cutler from the Durham Re- gional Police. She spoke on per- sonal safety, in the home, in the shopping mall and travelling alone and how to use 911 call for help. We watched a 15-minute vid- eo on personal safety, which im- pressed us all. We should be more aware of things that can happen to women travelling alone. Speaker was thanked by Hel- en Dorrell and given a gift from the W.I. (African violet). Meet- ingclosed with O Canada. No meeting in July and Au- gust. Summer outing - Lindsay Theatre event being planned.
