UD. - Large crowd attends retirement tea by Joyce Kelly Heartiest congratulations to Peter and Maria Hoogeveen who joined the ranks of grand- parents with the arrival of a baby daughter of their daughter AnneMarie and her husband Neil Williams of Nestleton. Congratulations. Congratulations to Margaret and Tony Duivesteyn on the ar- rival of a new grandson, a son of Linda and Dvid McKaque of Woodville. This is the third son for Linda and David. Congratu- lations to all at this happy event. A large crowd gathered at the Cartwright Central Public School on Tuesday evening for the Retirement Tea in honor of Mrs. Marjorie Green. After eve- ryone enjoyed looking at the various pictures and other me- morabilia, prinicpal Don Real called Marjorie, her husband Don, daughters Marilyn and Nancy and sons Robert and his wife Sue and baby Ryan and Richard to the front. Don brought greetings to Marjorie quoting the poem "All I Really Needed To Know, I Learned In Kindergarten." Joyce Kelly, trustee, brought greetings from the Board of Education. Kinder- garten class '94 brought greet- ings under the direction of par- ent Kelly Gatchell. Miss J. Rensink showed a video of life at C.C.P.S. The Parents Group made a presentation with a gift. The staff presented Marjorie with several gifts as well as a purse of money from the com- munity. Son Richard spoke on behalf of the family. The pro- gram concluded with Marjorie speaking of many of the events during her teaching career. Best wishes Marjorie. A warm welcome is extended to Jim and Carol Dayes and family who recently moved from Brooklin to their home in Donel- da Court, Blackstock. Jim grew up in this area so we welcome youback again. Hugh and Karen Goodacre and baby Dana of Gander, New- foundland spent a couple of weeks in this area visiting her parents Margaret and Tony Duivesteyn and other family members as well as many friends here. The annual Strawberry sup- per at the Blackstock United Church was a fine success with a good crowd enjoying the deli- cious supper. A large number of local resi- dents attended the Decoration Service at Pine Grove Ceme- tery, Prince Albert on Sunday afternoon. On Saturday Marie and Cecil Gibson attended the wedding of Spring Tripp and Craig Reilly in Port Perry United Church with the reception in the Ma- sonic Hall. Spring is the daugh- ter of Marie's nephew Gary Tripp. Each Wednesday afternnoon and evening many enjoy shuf- fleboard at the arena. Come and oy this great pastime. A tables of euchre were played with the following win- ners: Muriel Butson, Lourrena Bright, Carl Ferguson, Roy Werry, Mary Forrest, Vera Fawns, Irene Hoffman. Lucky draws: Gord Finney, Carl Gim- blett, Mary Forrest, Charlie Stapleton, Kathleen Watts. Knitters are required for the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Glad to report that Merrill VanCamp is progressing well following his surgery last week. He expects to be moved very soon to the St. John's Rehabili- tation Hospital in North York. On Friday late afternoon a se- rious accident took place on Highway 7A just near Harold Wright's Feed store. Seriously injured was Bill Pargeter, Jr. who is in intensive care in Sun- nybrook Hospital. Local resi- dents will identify Bill as Mer- vyn and Ella Graham's great- grandson. Our thoughts are with the family at this critical time. Next Sunday will be a com- bined service for Nestleton and Blackstock United Churches as an outdoor service at the home of Linda and Roy Bradburns at 10:30 a.m. Dress casually for this service. A warm welcome is extended to any visitors who wish to go ahead. Plans are well underway for the annual Tractor and Truck Pull which will be held on Fri- day and Saturday evenings, July 8 and 9 at the fairgrounds.
