Palmer Park, dotted with happy faces, hot dogs, candy floss, popcorn, balloons, flags, entertainment and fireworks, was the scene of the annual Chamber of Commerce Canada Day celebrations and fireworks last Friday night and as is customary, the park was packed with thousands of spectators. ~ Prior to the fireworks, entertainment was provided by a local youth group, Clay Highway and recording artist Frank Trainor. The Royal Canadian Legion and Korean Veterans Association took part in the opening ceremonies, lowering the Canadian flag during the playing of O' Canada and Mayor Howard Hall welcomed the crowd and thanked the Chamber for putting on the popular annual event. But the highlight of the evening, as always, was the magnificent display of fireworks at dusk and judging by the reaction of the crowd, it was enjoyed by all. _€$st ~~ Barney, the popular purple dinosaur made a guest appearance and is seen here with Shannon and Tara Mazurk of Port Perry. ] The Scugog Chamber of Commerce gave out free Canadian flags, pins and balloons during Canada Day celebration last Friday night.
