The game was a slow paced match in which the girls Just couldn't seem to get any- thing to work. Passes weren't sharp and as a result at half- time the Arms were down 3-1. The second half continued at the same pace as the first half and Ajax had widened the lead to 5-1 before the Arms coun- tered with a couple of goals to bring the score to 5-3. Winches- ter wasn't able to get their run- ning and passing together and found themselves down by a 7-3 -gcore at rull time. Goals for the Arms were scored by Shaun Gault with two and Cate Lewis with one. Thursday, June 30 saw the girls back at the soccer fields for a game against Ajax Rays Tro- phies. Having lost on Tuesday night was all the inspiration the team needed to go on the early attack in this game. Sara Co- sway took a corner kick which was redirected by Emily Co- sway for a goal at the two min- ute mark for an early 1-0 lead. Lisa Bonser followed up with a goal one minute later to up the score to 2-0. The girls continued to put on the pressure and by half time were up 3-0 on a goal by Paula Reed. The second half was well played by both teams with great rushes down the field only to be stopped by super goaltending by Lea-Anne Wakeford and the Ajax goalie. The teams each scored a couple goals to make the final 5-3 for Winchester Arms. Shaun Gault and Robin Adderley scored for the Arms. The weekend of July 9 and 10 at Mosport International Speedway will be awesome as some of the most spectacular competition come together for an action packed doubleheader, racing extravaganza. The regular weekly stock car divisions (including Late Model Sportsman, Street Stock, Thun- dercars and A.C.T. Late Mod- els), will play host as the ISMA supermodifieds (who will do battle at Oswego Speedway on Saturday evening) make their Only Canadian Visit to this fa- cility on Sunday. These open wheel, methanol burning, 1200 horsepower, heart stopping, incredibly fast machines are indeed the fastest carson the speedway. Also on the schedule this weekend is the Oxford 250 Qualifier for the ACT Late Mod- el Division, a 100 Lap Special that guarantees start money to the winner for the July 15 and 16 Oxford 250. The Oxford 250 is one of ACTs most prestigious and richest events of the sea- son. And if that's not enough, to add more spice to the hotly con- tested regular weekly racing battles, all divisions will be run- ning in the Mid Summer Cham- pionship for Longer Races, Higher Purses, and Double Points. The racing will un- doubtedly be spectacular! Saturday, the gates open at 5:30 p.m. and racing gets under- way at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, gates open at 12:30 p.m. and the first heat is at 1:16 p.m. Supertick- ets are $30 (good for both days).
