Ephraim's fond memories as a Cub and Scout many years ago prompted him to become a leader. Ephraim started as a Cub leader in September 1990 with First Port Perry. In Sep- tember 1991, Ephraim's wife Cheryl joined him as a Cub leader for two years. September 1993 Ephraim took over First Port Perry's Scout troop. During Ephraim's four years with first Port Perry he has at- tended Cub and Scout camps, Church parades, Apple Day, planted Trees for Canada, ar- ranged C.P. rail tours, helped fundraise, been the best Kub Kar flag person along with liv- ing up to the Scout Law and Promise. Ephraim has taught over 70 boys the Scouting Spir- it. Ephraim and Cheryl's three boys Matt, Lyle and Jon have all been part of First Port Perry. Matt has enjoyed two years in Cubs and two years in Scouts, winning Cub of the Year and hiking through Europe. Lyle spent two years in Cubs and one year in Scouts winning the bike rodeo trophy two years in a row. Jon was active in Bea- vers two years and Cubs two years. Last year Jon was a great asset to the Beaver leaders act- ing as a Keeo for the Beaver Col- ony. . All the Dufoes will be missed by the First Port Perry Scout Group. They are all great scout- ers and good friends. Ephraim was presented with a shadow box displaying a cer- tificate of appreciation, a First Port Perry Crest, PineRidge District Crest, Lakeridge Re- gion Crest, Cub and Scout Epaulets, a piece of rope tied in areef knot, and a Port Perry red and blue scarf. -The evening ended with a few good Ephraim stories, laughs and sad goodbyes. KELLY LOWN/PORT PERRY STAR Ephraim Dufoe was presented with a special keepsake from Ellen Greenough on Saturday night. The local scout leader is leaving the pack to move to Sudbury.
