ee. i 1993 a busy year for Farm Safety Assoc. 1993 has certainly been a year of change and challenge for each and every one of us. The challenges faced by the Farm Safety Association have come at us from all sides - re- duced funding from the Work- ers' Compensation Board, a re- duction in field staff, the need to create a "Mission Statement" and pay equity all worked to challenge the Farm Safety As- sociation's durability. With all challenges comes op- portunity. The opportunity for the Farm Safety Association was and is the need to review the WHAT, WHY and HOW. This has led the Farm Safety Association to provide two new services. They are: the Ontario- wide toll free number and ex- panded hours of operation. FARM SAFETY It's up to you! ITH TRITRITRITRITHI] These changes are aimed at making the Farm Safety Associ- ation more client sensitive. Another change was the re- vamping of the fatality report, to indicate age groupings allow- ing a more accurate comparison with other industries. We now have three categories - those under 16, those 16 to 65 and those over age 65. 1993 also saw a closer work- ing relationship with our com- modity groups, to provide in- dustry specific news releases and articles for their publica- tions. The Farm Safety Association continues to be involved in co- operative projects with the On- tario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Municipal Health and Safety Association, and others. The Farm Safety Association is pleased to be an integral part of the newly formed Canadian Coalition for Agricultural Safe- ty and Rural Health. The Coali- tion's goal is to provide a uni- form approach to safety information, research, educa- tion and surveillance across Canada.
