Flooring 12 Inclement weather did not dampen the outcome as Lish- man's won their first game. Leading the offense were Hayley Campbell with a double and two RBIs while Austin Grant had an RBI single. Heather Jones was the defen- sive star making two fine plays at short stop. Blake McLaughlin's grand slam home run and triple led the J.C. Flooring attack. Dean McLure collected a double and a single while Andrew Bronson got a single. Baker Auto Roadrunners 8 Turner's Giants 6 Baker's win means the league title won't be decided until the last regular game. Pitching and defense added up to the victory. Roadrunners Ritchers Taylor Churchill and itch Truax held Turner's scoreless in the last two in- nings. Patrick Wotten made some great defensive outs at first base. Collecting key hits for the winners were Caitlin Levac and Kory Bauer. Turner's key hit came from Nicole Beechey. Cartwright Youth Council 6 Swain's Seeds 3 In a low scoring affair the CYC evened their record at .500. Nicole Jones led the winners with a home run while Jeaf Charapek collected a double and Katie Peleikis a single. Brad Pigden and Brian Cart- er had hits for Swain's while Pigden and T.J. Parker made some fine defensive plays. Swain's Seeds used T-Ball call- ups Steven Larmer and Cody Rundle and by reports played a strong game. Thanks guys. Mites Ash/Embers Flames 15 MEKM Eggbeaters 14 The Flames won their fourth - straight game as Alex DeJong's excellent last inning pitching preserved the victory. Marley Malcolm had a double for the winners while Steven Blunden led MKM with a home run and four runs scored. Defense plays were led by Kristy Brooks who made all three outs for her team in one inning while Sean Winter made an excellent catch on a hard line drive for the Flames. Call up Taylor Churchill played well collecting a double as well as making some fine plays on defense. Carpet Warehouse 16 Asselstine's 13 Carpet Warehouse overcame a strong hitting by Asselstine's to gain their fifth win of the sea- son. Leading the way for the winners were Robert Larmer and Adam Stapley with two hits cach while Jeff Ziedman collect- ed a single. Asselstine's offense came from Blake Gunter who had two hits along with callup Mark Carnaghan. Other Asselstine's hits came from Monica Duyves- tyn, Carl Geer, Robert Notman, Alex Blue and Warren Keeler. Callup Blake McLaughlin played a strong game for Assel- stines. Blackstock Lions -W Martin Consulting - LL No game report available. Squirts Pineridge Glass 13 Nestleton Store 11 The win by Glass Service evened their record with Nestle- ton. Each team now have five victories. A home run by Jesse Vitek and excellent base stealing lift- ed the winners to victory. John Williams also chipped in with a double. Aaron Warren's bases loaded triple was the big hit for Nestle- ton. Other hits came from Luc Wilson, Miranda Burgess, Christine Davies and John Van- strien. The defensive play of the game for Nestleton was the un- assisted double play turned by Miranda Burgess. Cummings Backhoe 14 Antrim House 14 Chad Hobbs' home run and two triples by Paul Pickering helped Antrim House gain the tie. Other offensive stars for An- trim were Amanda Drew and Daryl Dean with doubles while Candace Jackson had one RBI. Christa Lanes two triples and three RBIs were the big hits for Cummings. Doubles and RBIs were also hit by Corrina Bauer and April Bonsma. Tyler Lucas had a double while Graham In- gram and Sarah Stapley had a single each. Cummings used callup Brent McGregory who made a great slide at home plate. Senior Softball H&M Wright Sox 17 Blackstock Hardware 2 The Sox victory was high- lighted by two home runs, three triples and three doubles. The big hit for the losers was a dou- ble. No other information avail- able. Don Frew & Sons 18 IGA4 The Frew & Sons team kept their chance at first place alive with their sixth victory. Alex Upton had a double for the win- ners as their key hit. Defense took centre stage as great plays were made by Ryan Peters, Richard Frew and some excel- lent catching by Tara Hobbs. Natasha Burgess had a dou- ble for IGA with Colin Manns making the game's defensive play at third base. IGA used Chad Hobbs, Krista Lane and Tyler Lucas as callups and all came up with some key hits. . Reminders 1. Week #9 Cartwright Minor Ball T-Ball Blackstock Lioness 24 Super Spud 10 Triples by Cory Clarke and Sarah Aide helped the Lioness to their fifth victory over the short handed Super Spud team. Collecting three runs a piéce were William Dallas, Brian Jensen, Brent Paradis and Sa- rah Oppers. Heading the Spud offense was Rina Prendergast who scored three runs while Dustin Parker scored twice. Zach Green made some great defen- sive plays at second base. Figure Skating Club 15 Analada Garden Centre 26 Four's were wild as Analda evened their record to .500. Jeff Campkin continued his strong hitting with a grand slam home run as well as two triples. Sean Taylor also had a triple for the winners, Natalie Beechey, Darcee Grove and Justin Ken- nedy all combined with four hits and four runs each. Steven Larmer had a triple for the Skating Club while Mat- thew Ferguson, Cody Rundle and Sarah Churchill each had four hits. Baseball Causeway Cougars 15 Top Gun Janitorial 4 Home runs by John Chrapek and Kyle McClurg plus 15 more hits carried the Cougars to vic- tory in a game played July 12. ~ Causeway Cougars 12 Willow Tree Farms 10 In what was termed as a great baseball game the Cou- gars narrowly edged the Port Perry team to stay in first place. Willow Tree took an early lead but the Cougars fought back to tie in the fourth and won the game on their last at bats. Kyle McClurg's double scored the winning run while John Chrapek's home run added the + insurance run to save the victo- ry came from David Bauer, Jessica Boccaccio, Joey Derynck, Nick Malcolm, Brian Wonnacott and Other hits for the winners from Cartwright Minor Ball league David Young. Wotten Carpentry 9 Power Worker's Union 4 Saving their best defensive game of the season -for this night the Hammer Heads beat the Tyke leading Union team. Excellent pitching by Johna- thon Wotten, Joey Schrembri and Tim Borody held the oppo- sition to just four runs over six innings. London Life Lazers 15 Towne Fireplace 10 The Lazers continued to win behind a 10 hit attack. Graham Ingram and Christa Lane both played well on offense and de- ense. Coaches, sponsors and all those involved are proud of your efforts. Keep playing well. Peewee ModJacks playing .600 ball The Peewee ModJacks of the York Durham League scored a total of 38 runs in three games while allowing their opponents only 12 runs to bring their sea- son to almost .600 ball. The first game of the week was against Pickering. The game was tied 4-4 going into the last inning when thé bats ex- ploded for 13 hits to score 14 runs. Jon Froats took to the mound for the first four innings and struck out six while giving up six hits and three walks. Chris Jones pitched the last in- ning and gave up no hits and struck out two. At the plate, Derek Tindall hit a double and picked up two singles, one of which was a per- fect bunt that the speedy one legged out. Chris Jones had a good night at the plate as well as he picked up three singles. . Jeff Ashton had a single and home run, Ryan Hawkins picked up two singles, Ryan Moynes and Mike Versage each hit triples while Scoff Jeffrey picked up a double. Singles in- this game went to Ryan McQuade, Jon Froats and Brad Monsma. The team's defence is going well at this point in the season and there are a few plays worth mentioning. In the first inning, the bove picked up a double play on a throw in from left field by Derek to Ryan at short, who threw to Clay at first to tag a runner rounding first. Then Clay threw to Brad at the plate to catch a runner trying to come home onthe play. Great relay, guys. In the fourth inning, Der- ek made another long throw from left to Jeff at the plate to tag a runner trying to score again. In the last inning of play, Ryan Moynes made a nice scoop on a low throw from short to get the runner out. Final score 18- 4. On Tuesday night, Stouffville came to town. Chris Jones start- ed on the mound and allowed eight hits while striking out four and walking only one. Clay pitched the last inning and gave up no hits. The pitching for Stouffville is a bit stronger than some of the teams that the boys face in the league and they only picked up three hits. Ryan Hawkins hit a triple to lead the Port team. Scott Jeffrey reached base on a perfect bunt and Michael Ver- sage picked up the only other single of the game. There were a couple of defen- sive highlights to mention in this game, also. Scott made a nice lo throw from centre field to Jeff at the plate who made a diving tag as the runner tried to come in the back door. Jeff also made a nice throw to shortstop Jon Froats to catch a ing to steal second on - runner a pass ball. Final in this one, 8-2 for Stouffville. On Thursday night, Picker- ing came to town and this game was filled with hits as Port won 18-0. Clay pitched the entire game and gave up only two hits and two walks while striking out eight. Ryan Hawkin's hot batting continues as he picked up a home .run and four singles on the night. Picking up two sin- gles each were Ryan McQuade, Jon Froats, Clay Brown, Darryl Dalton and Derek Tindall.
