And although the run is two months away, the organizing committee is already in full swing. The 10 km. run, scheduled for Sunday, Sépt. 18, will wind its way through the streets of Port Perry and Prince Albert, begin- ning and ending at Palmer Park. One km. and five km. runs will also be offered. : Elizabeth McArthur, one of the co-ordinators, said it is the. intent of the committee to make the morning a family event. "We want to reinforce that this is not just a run. We want to bill it as a community event," she said. With this in mind, a number of activities are being planned for .the park. The By Kelly Lown Port Perry Star Area residents are urged to start up their personal watercraft and test a slalom run on Lake Scugog on August 14 to help raise mon- ey for The Easter Seals Society. The second annual event, orgnaized by the Rotary Club of Port Perry, will be held at the lakefront in Port Perry. The club is aiming to raise $5,000 for the society. Organizers are hoping for a minimum of forty riders, grouped in eight teams of five, who will compete in.a solo slalom-run against the clock. Two machines, as well as safety equipment, will be provided by the Port Perry Marina for the event. Each participant will be required to complete a half hour practice session under the marina's supervision. Practice ses- sions will be held between 11 a.m. and 1p.m. with the Aquarama competition geting underway at 1p.m. Riders must make a minimum pledge of $75 to take part in the event, but are encour- aged to raise additional dollars through sponsorship. All participants must be at least 16 years of age and possess a valid driver's licence. Prizes will be awarded for the lowest aggregate time, the fastest individual time, . most pledge money brought in and a booby prize for the most interesting ride.
