Proceeds from the event will help Canadian Arm Wrestling Champ Mike Gould compete at the World Champi- onships in Sweden this Septem- ber. Gould, a member of the re- nowned Port Perry Arm Wrestling Club, is the 100 kg national title holder with both his left and right arms. Several special guests have already been confirmed for the event including Howie Bertolo (keyboards-Aldo Nova, Frozen Ghost), Rob Laidlaw (bass-Kim Mitchell, Allanah Myles), Pete Smith (saxophone) and The Jes- sicas (vocals). The Timebandits, led by ex- Killer Dwarf guitarist Mike Hall and former Santers drum- mer Mark Santer are a power- house trio in the tradition of Johnny Winter, Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The band is hoping all their local musi- cian friends and fellow athletes Accident investigation continuing, police say An investigation continues into an accident last: week that sent two children to hospital. Durham Regional Police said blood samples gathered after the collision on Cartwright West Quarter Line Aug. 1 have been sent for forensic testing to determine if alcohol was a fac- tor in the crash, which occurred after a Chevrolet pick-up truck being driven by a 23-year-old Port Perry man apparently ran a stop sign and was broadsided by an oncomingcar. The pickup had two people in the back but none of the occu- pants were seriously injured in the 6 p.m. accident, police said. Two children aged 4 and 6 in the car driven by a 22-year-old Oshawa woman were injured and taken to hospital. One child was transfered to Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto but has since been released, police said.
