"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" Canine Unit called out after stolen car found near Rd. 57 Officers and dogs from the Durham Regional Police Canine Unit were called out to scour bush southeast of Blackstock last Friday morning after an abandoned car containing some weapons was found. Sgt. Ken Hudson of 26 Division in Port Perry said an hour-long search was mounted after a 1986 GMC Jimmy, stolen sometime overnight in Bowmanville, was discovered in the bush on Fowler Line. The vehicle was totalled after it left Fowler about a kilometre south of Mountjoy of fence line and coming to a rest in the bush. Investigating officers found a number of items that led them to believe the car thieves were "intending on committing some crimes," Sgt. Hudson said Friday. Two sets of footprints led away from the crash site toward Durham Rd. 57, he said. The Canine Unit was deployed and searched the area for about an hour, but lost the trail. The car thieves may have made it to the regional road and thumbed a ride, Sgt. Rd., taking out about 100 feet Hudson speculated. : A grand opening was held Saturday for Brock's For kids, the new boutitque on Queen St. Here store i" Marina Brock watches as Sunny the Clown helps Robert McKim, 7, on with a hat.
