Residents of Ottawa and Macdonald Streets have been complaining of parking prob- lems, speeders and garbage accumulating in the area. Mayor Hall said Monday the school's custodians will work at keeping the area clean, and police have been called in to ticket drivers who are moving too fast. But the parking problem can only be cleaned up by ticketing illegally parked cars -- that campaign started this week -- and creating new parking spaces, said the mayor. He said the school owns a lot "a very short block away from the school" that would suffice. No parking signs would "just push everything a block away from the school," he added. Councillor Marilyn Pearce (Ward 2) said it's wrong to ticket the students who drive to school. "Harassment of the students with parking tickets is not an answer," she said. "There's a More parking needed at high school: council parking problem down there and a parking lot is the answer. "We've got to work with the school board to alleviate what 18 a major problem with parking out there," added Councillor Pearce. Mayor Hall said angle park- ing may be allowed on Macdonald St. as a more effi- cient means of using space, but angle parking on Ottawa St. would result in a ticket. Administrator to report soon on movie policy for Scugog Scugog councillors will soon have a discussion on adopting a township policy for visiting movie-makers. Administrator Earl Cuddie Manor objections dropped From Page 1 Legion Park Manor, a 40-unit building, will not be so high as originally planned -- to conform to township bylaws -- and a 40- space parking lot has been reconfigured, Mr. Knowles said. The agreement was negotiated during a mediation session convened here by the OMB, a provincial arbitrator in municipal disputes. The mediation process can help disputing parties avoid a full-blown hearing. "This (redrawn plan) has met with the approval of the residents who initially submitted their objection to the OMB," Mr. Knowles told councillors. Mr. Cuddie said he'd been checking with neighboring municipalities on the policies they employ, and hopes to come up with something suitable for Scugog.
