A special welcome was ex- tended to the new chums who had moved up to cubs from bea- vers and to cub Adam Allen. On Saturday, Sept. 10, the cubs attended their fall week- end camp at Heber Down Con- servation Area. The new chums learned about Lord Baden Pow- ell, scouting traditions and their Law and Promise. They also took part with the other cubs to complete the require- ments for their Woodsman and Observer badges. During the weekend the cubs cooked part of their lunch and supper on an open fire which, later in' the evening they en- joyed skits and songs around. The weather provided a perfect night for a night ramble through the forest. On Sunday morning, Justin Cottrell, Darryl Hutsell, Steven Karalash, Simon Renison, Mi- chael Rickard, Matthew Roth, - first series of meetings Devon Smith, Adam Bull, Kyle Pett, Kenny Britt, Jason Porter, Greg Greenough and Elgen Ward were invested into the - cub pack. Congratulations to all these boys for their accomplish- ments. Thank you to all of our lead- ers for providing a fun weekend for the boys. A special thank you to the parents who stayed the weekend; to those who brought the groceries and cooked the meals, but most of all thanks to the cubs for making this a great camp. In Durham, the rides raised $52,000 on June 20, 1994 and over $4,000 in the town of Port Perry. The rides, featuring corpo- rate and individual donors pledging funds for seats on the 34 seat "mighty bike" (the world's largest), ended Satur- day in Vancouver. They began May 7 in St. John's, Newfound- land. Royal Bank chairman and chief executive officer, Allan Taylor, was in Vancouver to captain the final 20 minute ride. "I was very pleased when our staff suggested the best way to celebrate the bank's anniver- sary was to do something for the communities we serve," said Mr. Taylor. "The Royal Bank Rides for Easter Seals captured the imagination of our staff, countless volunteers and hun- dreds of corporate sponsors and individual donors who made QOR3 pledges for each ride."
