The sanctuary was suitably decorat- ed. The congregation acted out Psalm 126, prayers of the peo- ple, the story of stone soup, of- fertory song and another group served refreshments which was led in grace by the Sunday School. There was a dedication of the new church doors which were made possible by bequests of the late Hilda Bailey and Lloyd McDonald. Donations of food were sent to the Uxbridge Food Bank. Utica Day Care enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings on Friday. On Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m., they will be going pumpkin picking at Willowtree Farms. On Monday, Oct. 31 they will have their Halloween party and Goblin Parade and on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. they will have their Open House. There were 13 tables of eu- chre played on Friday evening in Utica Hall with the following winners: Ladies First Elva Symes, Second Mary Poots, Third Lena Ogden. Mens First Ed Skinner, Second George Harper, Third Ruth McDonald. George Harper had the most lone hands (five). Freeze-out winners were Ivy Hardy and Art Parratt, Grace and Ross Thompson were second. Draws were won by Irene Fielding, Wilma Lynde and Ross Thomp- son. Elsie Pogue won the 50/50 draw. Plan to attend the next euchre in two weeks, Oct. 21. Lorne and Eileen Slute had Sunday supper with daughter Sharane Dear and family. All the family were home for Thanksgiving on Monday. Grace Kirk visited with her sister and brother in Mississau- ga for a few days last week, spending one day in Buffalo as a guest of the Primrose Chapter ofthe O.E.S. A real community welcome was given to Brian and Wendy Meek when the chivaree gang visited them on Saturday night. On Sunday, Mrs. Crosier en- joyed Thanksgiving dinner with the Scott family at the home of her granddaughter Brenda Bradstreet and her family in Toronto. Jean and Wally Scott of Toronto were weekend guests with Mrs. Crosier. News from Epsom School We would like to welcome back all the students plus the new kindergarten students. We also welcome three new teach- ers, Mrs. Gower, Mrs. Phoenix and Mrs. James, our Education- al Assistant. We also have another new ad- dition to our school - our new layground. We raised over $29, 000 in just five months by selling chocolate bars, maga- zines, flowers and an auction which raised $12,000. Stu- dents, parents, teachers and politicians gathered on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Epsom to celebrate with a corn roast which raised $375. Over 200 people attended for the dedica- tion. There will be more fund- raisers this year. Oct. 11-12, Epsom Grade 5/6 class is going to Durham Forest to participate in the program's Orienteering, Endangered Spe- cies and Forest Quest. The Grade 4/6/68 will also be going to Show Boat, a musical like the one we went to two years ago. On Friday, Sept. 16, students from Grades 3/4/6/6 went to Beaverton Fall Fair for cross country. Jessica Vanuden placed third in the 10 year old girls. Volleyball will be starting soon. Baseball has started. In junior baseball, the Epsom Rap- tors are in first place. In pri- mary baseball, the Firing Fast- balls are in first. Phys. Ed. will start in Octo- ber and we will be going to Greenbank as we don't have a gym. In the winter, we will have a hockey season.
