Locals can take advantage of a discount of five cents or 10 per cent off when buying take-out MAYOR Monday, November 14, 1994 coffee at most local restaurants - when they take their own mug along! Resolve to take your own bags with you when you shop; reusable bags can be obtained cheaply at the local liquor store and our two major grocery stores. Two grocery shoppers who take their own bags will re- ceive a free composter as a re- ward for their efforts. On Friday, members of the Central Seven Association for Community Living will be do- ing a clean-up of the new Rotary Park, to tie in with the Commu- nity Clean-up day the Recycling Council of Ontario has suggest- ed for the conclusion of Waste Reduction Week. Plenty of information on waste reduction (including com- posting) will be available in the environmental handout unit at Scugog Library. Almost anyone will be able to find some good tips in the pamphlet "100 Ways to Watch Your Wasteline," and there are also packages for peo- ple in the local industrial, com- mercial and institutional sec- tor. Along with copies of a booklet on starting up a paper recycling program, there are handouts for commercial printers, auto- motive service and - repair shops, restaurants and bars, photographic developers, offic- es and office buildings, grocery stores, cafeterias and lunch rooms, hotels and motels, retail shopping establishments and maintenance yards. Local schools have received copies of materials from both Durham Region's Works De- partment and the Recycling Council of Ontario.
