"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, Oct. 18, 1994 - B7 Begins October 27 Borelians present "Shadow Walkers" Love thwarted, commitments lost and passions doused - all the ingredients for an exciting evening at the Town Hall 1873 in Port Perry. The Borelians are staging "The Shadow Walkers," by Canadian playwright Brian Tremblay. The play is set in the country- side surrounding the small town of Clifton. Into this idyllic setting is dragged playwright Clair Meredith (played by Lor- raine Chiusolo), by her friend and assistant producer Val Warner (played by Deb Bodine- Champion). Val hopes that time spent in a wonderfully pre- served country house will in- spire Clair to overcome her writer's block. The unexpected arrival of Alan Byford (Ray Porrill), Clair's boyfriend, leads to an- ger, followed by passionate mo- ments for this modern day couple. Clair discovers a diary written by Anna Preston, (acted by 16-year-old Melissa Luke in her first role with the bore- lians), that moves Clair back in time to 1915 to become ac- quainted with the Prestons. Through reading the diary and old letters, Clair starts to catch a glimpse of the lives shared by the Prestons. Aunt Sarah Preston, played by Bunty Webb, has returned ~ from England to care for her two nieces, Anna and Ellen Fos- ter, who left orphans after an unexpected tragedy killed their parents. Into their lives comes Robert Darcy, a handsome teacher (played by Greg Bant- ing). Robert acts as a catalyst that forever alters their dreams. Tragedy follows pas- sion. Clair's life choices change as a result of becoming em- broiled in the times of the Pres- tons. Director Betty Ann Manuel believes that peoples' feelings and emotions do not change, whether you live in 1915 or 1994. People make choices and must live the consequences of their actions. In 1915, choices Charlotte Hale, Bunty Webb and Melissa Luke are seen here in a scene from the Borelians upcoming production "The Shadow Walkers." The show runs October 27, 28, 29 and November 3, 4, 5 at Town Hall 1873. (See story) were limited for both men and women and society dictated the morales by which people were to live.
