B8 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, Oct. 18, 1994 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Tractor Our community was con- cerned with the news that Ma- rie Tysick suffered a serious medical problem last Tuesday and was rushed to Community Memorial Hospital, to Oshawa Hospital and to Wellesley Hos- pital, Toronto, and then later to Toronto Western Hospital where she underwent very seri- ous surgery. Happily, I can re- port that she is making good progress following her surgery. Our thoughts are with Marie and her husband Ross, as well as daughter Sherry and Leon Slute. His many friends in this area are happy to learn that Jim pull banquet is on November 12 McHarg has been able to be transferred to Community Me- morial Hospital from Kingston Hotel Dieu Hospital. Jim is pro- gressing favourably. Glad also to report that Mrs. Erma Tripp is progressing fa- vourably following her major surgery in a London hospital last week. On Friday afternoon, Rea and Becky Mahaffy of St. Mary's called on Merrill and Jean Van- Camp on their way to the Here- ford sale in Peterborough. The Pork Dinner hosted by the members of the Blackstock United Church choir on Satur- day evening was a great success in every way. Grant and Lorna Edgerton, Merrill and Jean VanCamp, Grant and Heather McLaugh- lin, Neil and Kathy McLaughlin were guests at the wedding of their niece/cousin Joanne Bir- kett and heith Rahm at the Port Perry United Church on Saturday. Following the meeting, they travelled by way of Bala and the Cranberry Festival to Penetan- guishene where they were over- night guests of Esther Kelly and Francis Peeters. Sunday was a beautiful day for a tour of this area. Little Kathryn Larmer was a weekend guest of her grandpar- ents Peggy and Ralph Larmer while her parents Paul and Margaret were in Ottawa where Paul judged a cattle show. Dora Martyn chose the theme of Thanksgiving for her worship using verses from Psalms 67 and 105 to illustrate that one should give thanks at all times. Plans were made for the Trac- tor Puller's Banquet on Nov. 12.
