Bunty is currently playing Aunt Sarah Preston in the production, "The Shadow Walkers," opening on Thurs- day, Oct. 27 at the Town Hall. Bunty arrived in Canada in 1955 to stay for two years only; instead she met her husband Ron after only three months and only returned to England to tie the proverbial knot. One son and daughter later, the family moved to Markham. Bunty had a long history of community theatre in England. In 1947, her first role on stage was a maid with one line: Din- ner 1s served. Bunty comes by her acting honestly with a fa- ther who was a comedian and a mother who sang. Her first role was in an English comedy, "Charity Be- gins," in 1968. Never to rest on her laurels, Bunty went on to perform in many memorable plays, such as Big Momma in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," twice with the Toron- to Village Players and Scarbo- rough Theatre, and as Veta Louise in "Harvey," with Mark- ham Little Theatre and the Bo- relians. Some roles brought rec- ognition in the form of four THEA Awards, an award given to the best actor/actress in com- munity theatrical productions. These roles were as diverse as Madame Arcartiin "Blithe Spir- it," Aunt Abby in "Arsenic and Old Lace," and a cleaner in "Busy Body." WORKS ON NEW CARS, USED CARS, EVEN RUSTY CARS! Tel- evision is a medium familiar to Bunty. She has performed in several television series, such as Cynthia Dale's housekeepel in "Street Legal," Mrs. Hudson to Alan Bedford's Sherlock Holmes in "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," a housekeeper to Ted Schackleford in "The Twilight Zone" and another housekeeper to Jason Robards in "Mark Twain," a movie made for televi- sion. Bunty quips that she started as a maid and found her niche as a housekeeper. Work- ing as an extra in King of Kens- ington and A Gift to Last has led Bunty to meet many interesting people in film. Her next charac- ter roleis in a film to be released at Christmas, called Trapped in Paradise, starring Nickolas Cage and Dana Garvey, and should not be missed. She does not play a housekeeper in this film! For her extensive service to community theatre, Bunty re- ceived the Canada 125 Medal in 1992. As Bunty says, she never gets a chance to wear it, except on her nightgown. Bunty was a Brownie leader for 25 years and only gave it up when she moved to Port Perry. Ron, her husband of 38 years, provides her with love and support, and in Bun- ty's case, behind a classy lady is a great guy. In her off hours, Borelians 'Darling Lady' headlines in latest production Bunty and Ron enjoy playing darts with their neighbors on theisland. So do catch Bunty in her lat- est role as Aunt Sarah at the Town Hall, in the Borelians' production The Shadow Walk- ers, as watching her 1s a treat not to be missed! 'Hats for Hides' program offered to deer hunters Once again this fall, success- ful deer hunters who return hides to a hide collection station will receive blaze orange hats. This year's hat is the second in a series of three hats and features a moose on the logo. The Union of Ontario Indians and the Ministry of Natural Re- sources (MNR) developed this program in 1993. The program provides native artisans an op- portunity to buy tanned hides or to obtain raw hides for home tanning. The hides are availa- ble through BRT Trading Ltd. Successful hunters in MNR's GTA District can collect their hat by returning their hides to Thompson Farms, 12461 Ba- thurst Street, one mile south of King Sideroad in Richmond Hill. Hides will be accepted from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday to Friday. This season, the ministry will operate two deer check stations to collect deer harvest informa- tion from Wildlife Management Units (WMU) within the GTA District, including the Regions "of Durham, York, Halton and Peel. Sibbald Point Provincial Park will collect harvest infor- mation from WMUs #78A and #78B from Nov. 7 to 11 and Dec. 5 to 9. The station will be open from noon until 8 p.m. The park is located in Sutton West, north of Highway 48. Members of the Nassagaw- eya Community Consultation Committee will collect deer har- vest information from WMUs #79C and #79D at the Halton Sportsmen Association on Steeles Avenue between Bell School Line and Appleby Line.
