Mrs. Switzer con- firmed she met with other can- didates, but flatly denied the meetings were secret. Meetings were held to talk about buying signs and pam- phlets as a group, she said; can- didates with small election bud- gets appreciated the chance to obtain election material at a lower price. Mrs. Switzer also said she has advised some candidates on obtaining press coverage for their campaigns. "I don't even know some of these people who are running," she said. She added that although she has been identified in the church newsletter as a Christian candidate, "the churches haven't given me a dime." Mrs. Switzer said her cam- paign, which stresses educa- tional basics and spending restraint, has attracted interest from a number of groups and individuals.
