Jeffrey Scott, son of Beth and Scott Wil- son was presented for baptism. Our choir was in fine voice, of- fering two anthems. Following the baptism, a re- ception was held at Scott and Beth's home which was attend- ed by her family from Ottawa, Scott's family and several mem- bers of the congregation. This Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Utica United Church will be Time Out, Prayer Service. The first Sunday of Advent, Nov. 27, Heather Burton will be presiding. Service starts at 11 a.m. in Utica Church. There was a full house at the euchre party on Friday night in Utica Hall with 17 tables. The Sunday School meets at the same time and they are busy preparing for the Christmas Concert on Dec. 5. All are welcome to come and join in and be a part of the Ad- vent Season. The Sunday School had fun bowling last Saturday evening with the top bowlers being Men's - Rev. Shepherd, Ladies - Charlene Shepherd, Teens Bill - Lee and Childrens 10 and under - Ken Hunter. Everyone re- turned to the church for movies, games and a social time. The Bells of St. Matthews are two hand held choirs from Rich- mond Hill. These choirs will be providing us with special music at Greenbank Church service, Dec.11at11la.m. The Greenbank Hall Com- mittee is planning a Christmas Dance for Dec. 10 with all pro- ceeds going to the Hall. This is our major source of income. The cost is $15 per couple and in- cludes a buffet. Phone 985-3723 or 985-3903 for tickets. Euchre tables will also be set up down- stairs. The Folk Music Society's next musical evening will be Dec. 3 in Greenbank Hall featuring the Whiteley Brothers. We are glad to report Betty McGee is home from the hospi- tal and although her travels are limited, she's glad to be home. Vera Brown won the 50/50 draw. We hope to have another euchre in two weeks, Dec. 2. Plan to at- tend. Recent visitors with Mrs. Crosier were Jean Holtby and Edna Diamond. Jean Scott of London spent a few days this week with her mother and on Thursday they attended the fu- neral of the late Maurice Hamil which was held in Richmond Hill United Church. Visitors with Ruth Ashton on Wednesday were her son Alan and Joyce Ashton, Sandra Lu- dyka and baby Elsa. Jerry and Joan Asling were weekend visitors in the area to attend the 85th birthday cele- bration for Joan's father, Char- lie Clarke. The Clarke family celebrated with a family dinner on Saturday evening at the home of his daughter Elaine and Don Cordingley of Ux- bridge. Several from the com- munity attended an open house on Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church in Port Perry. Get well wishes to Robert Su- therland as he is recovering from recent surgery in Oshawa General Hospital. Jack, one of our for- mer ministers, and Elma are both enjoying good health and evenin his retirement, he still is working six or more hours a week with the Pembroke churches. Euchre Thursday Florence On Wednesday night of this week, Brooklin Horticultural Society will hold their Christ- mas Show and Annual Meeting at Brooklin United Church. Desserts and coffee will be served at 7 p.m. with special awards being presented. There will be four classes in the flow- er/decorative show with the theme being "Home for the Holi- days". Come out and enjoy a fun evening with your horticulture friends. It's euchre night again on Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Com- munity Centre. The November meeting of the Ladies' Bible Class met at the home of Sheila Parrott with sev- en women present. President Aldine Wick chaired the meet- ing. "Let There Be Peace On Earth" was sung to open the meeting. Scripture Jobb 22:21- 29 was read by Lexie Pettus. Meditation by the president was titled "Overcoming Your Inner Tensions". Lexie led in prayer. A few items of business were discussed. Florence Ashton was in charge of the program and led in a Bible Study covering the portion of Scripture from Mat- thew 14:13-21 - "The Feeding of the Five Thousand" and closing with prayer. Sheila served a delicious fruit pizza and tea for lunch. Catherine and Henry Hum- phrey, accompanied by Bernice Gardner, spent an enjoyable day attending the Royal Winter Fair. Mr. and Mrs. J. Cunnington of Guelph visited with Bernice and Jean Gardner recently. Joe and Clara Dowson from Scugog Island visited with Doug and Florence Ashton on Thursday evening.
