Durham Regional Police were still investigating the ] - break-ins at the Star and Herbally Yours, both located on Mary St. Thieves pried open the back door to gain entry to The Star Building and then managed to break open a safe, stealing an estimated $1,000 in cash and receipts, as well as a briefcase. That break-in occurred some- time Saturday night (Nov. 19) or early sunday morning. At the Herbally Yours store a couple of doors down the street, thieves forced a rear door sometime during the week- end and stole cash. A crowbar was found at the scene of that break-in Monday morning, police said. Wish list From Page 1 "Now, that is just a wish list," said Mrs. Drew after the Nov. 15 board meeting. "We may get only two or three of those." She added that the ranking of projects does not necessarily have to be recognized by the Ministry of Education. "The priorities of the provin- cial government may be a little different from our priorities." Projects in the five-year fore- cast include: 0 a visual arts and music room, as well as a science lab upgrade at Port Perry High School in year one (1994); a a new library at PPHS, roof replacement at Cartwright Central public school, and gen- eral improvements at Epsom P.S. in year two; Q a computer room upgrade at PPHS in year three; 0 roof replacement at R.H. Cornish public school and a gymnasium upgrade at PPHS in year four, and Q general improvements to Cartwright Central in year five. Mrs. Drew said the list is compiled by board staff and - presented to trustees for approval. The province typically announces which works will be allowed under a 50-50 funding structure in early summer. "I'm happy, especially with some of the things for Port Perry High School," said Mrs. Drew. "They're very much needed." ec a1 t hd one " gift ideas, designed & oo oe 5 3 Sol Ss Br RR
