Seagrave Church News Sunday the church service was on the "Reign of Christ Sun- day" when Rev. David Shep- herd chose for his sermon "Rul- er of Kings" and the Sunday School theme was "Faithful Witness". Sunday, Dec. 4 is White Gift Sunday and Dec. 11 is Seagrave Family Night. The Seagrave UCW will hold their December meeting in the form of a Christmas pot luck dinner this Friday, Dec. 2 at 6 . p.m. in the Seagrave Church. Please bring a first course dish or dessert. This Sunday, Church and Sunday School will be held in Epsom Church starting at 11 a.m. This is the second Sunday of Advent and will include the Hanging of the Greens, a litur- gy of carols and it is also the week for the food bank contribu- tions. This year, we are supporting three families for Christmas giving. There is a single mother (large) with a ten-year-old boy (12-14), a couple (both medium) and a single dad with a four- year-old girl. Gifts or money will be accepted in two weeks, which is White Gift Sunday. Looking ahead a few weeks, the Sunday School will be hold- ing their Christmas concert on Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. in Epsom Church. Parents are asked to supply finger food. Everyone is invited to attend the euchre this Friday in Utica Hall starting at 8 p.m. The Utica Community Day- care are holding a Christmas i School to hold concert dance on Friday, Dec. 9 from 7 p.m. until midnight in Utica Hall. On Saturday, several local people took part in the Santa Claus parades in both Uxbridge and Port Perry with floats being entered by Utica Farm Equip- ment and Epsom Public School. Pub night Dec. 7 Shirley Lee The Sunday School chil- dren opened our first Sunday of Advent by singing "This Little Candle." Mary Jean and Glen Till lit the candle of "Hope" with Kellie Quantrill placing the flame on the pul- pitbanner. The Sunday School chil- dren are busy preparing for the Christmas Concert on Monday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. Come to the church and show the teachers and children our support. I also hear that if Santa's not too busy he may be there. Next Sunday, Dec. 4 is White Gift Sunday at Green- bank Church. Please come and bring an unwrapped food donation for the Scugog Food Bank. The Fidelas Unit of the U.CW. will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the church. Our meeting will begin with a pot luck lunch- eon. Please come and bring a friend. Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. the Folk Music Society is holding an evening of music featuring the Whiteley Brothers at Greenbank Hall. This is sure tobe a sell-out. The Lions Club are hold- ing a pub night on Wednes- day, Dec. 7 from 7-10:30 p.m. at Greenbank Hall. This is an evening of British beer, cards, darts and a sing along, so far tickets call 985-3723 for tickets. Don't forget the Green- bank Hall Committee is planning a Christmas Dance on Dec. 10 with all the pro- ceeds going to the hall. There will be dancing and a buffet and the cost is $15/couple. Congratulations to the Li- ons Club who put a float in the Port Perry Santa Cluas Parade last Saturday. There theme was Christmas and they had elves handing out candy canes to the children. For you Uxbridge readers who won't get the Greenbank News next week, if you're a euchre player mark your cal- endar for the next euchre in Greenbank Hall on Dec. 9 and I'm told this is a "Christ- mas Special" evening. The Women's Institute are holding their December meeting on Wednesday the 14th. We are treating our- selves to an "eat out" lunch and then returning to Shir- ley Lee's for our Christmas meeting and social time.
