With Gavin Baxter and Troy Campbell out due to injuries caused by a car accident, the Techstars were in for a challenge. The Techstars came out flying and before the end of the first minute they were up to a 1-0 lead when Dillian Weber scored with assists to Dave Gainey and Scott Sanderson. But that lead was short lived as the Peterborough team Peterborough added two more before the period ended. The Techstars got one back early in the second on a goal by JP Copeland from Ian Parliament and Dan Lyons. Peterborough made it 4-2 just two minutes later. The Techstars narrowed the gap to one when Weber got his second of the game assisted by Tyler Wooten and Dave Gainey. The Techstars added one more to tie the game heading into the dressing room after two periods on a goal by Aaron Levy The Techstars finally took a lead when Levy scored another one assisted by Park and Ryan Puckrin. The lead then crumbled as the Peterborough team scored three unanswered goals to walk away with a 7-5 win. Doug Short played a great game in goal stopping, shot after shot from the Peterborough team. With a careful free pass from Janna to Brooke to Shona, she had no hesitation in show- ing her dominance on the ice once again. Right now, our favorite city is Sudbury. Peewee action Saturday's PHL action fea- tured an exciting match be- tween Big V and Scala Bros. The Scala squad came out flying as they pumped in three quick goals before Big V finally re- sponded with a marker of their own. Jared Aldridge netted Scala's first on a setup from Ryan Woods and Ian Garnett. Brent Simpson's unassisted effort was followed by Ian Garnett's blast from Ryan Woods to make the score 3-0. Troy Hazelton's solo effort got Big V on the board at 2:45 of the first. Derick Daluz restored Scala's three-goal lead after he converted a nice setup from Brent Simpson. Eric Troan stuffed in Jared Aldridge's pass to put Scala up 5-1. Billy Carr finished up a nice play from Troy Hazelton and Clayton Dales blasted a pass from Matt McGarry to put Big V back in the game. Ian Garnett from Ryan Woods and Woods from Garnett and Ryan Haslam attempted to place the final nails in Big V's comeback bid. Big V's netminder Ken Lukas kept his squad in the game ear- ly in the third to prevent a Scala runaway. Port Perry captain Scotty Heffern got things started, let- ting one howl past Cobourg goalie Luke Baterion's ear. Meanwhile, Scott was in midair after taking a hip.check. What a shot! Shane Norton assisted. Norty then scored on an amazing short-handed rush. Shane beat the goalie stickside, only after deking out the entire Cobourg team...twice! Heffy then scored his second of the night, with assists going to Nort and Lairdy. This brought the score to 3-1in our favor. Last Tues- day, we travelled to- Pickering Village to take on the Ajax team. Our girls were ready to take on the opponents and take them on they did. Lisa LeFort netted the first goal in this game, picking up a twirling pass from Jen Imrie and mak- ing a long shot which slid right in. Ajax picked up a goal mid- way through the first period to tie the game. Ajax broke the 1-1 tie into the second period, but it wasn't long before Jen Imrie on a pass from Melissa Hooker moved right in to find the net. Jackie Smith was the next one to find her spot and picked up two nice goals on assists from Mary Justinsky and Diana Burnett. The Imrie- Laird and says: "I feel safe with Lairdy on the ice, and I think that he feels the same when I'm out there." Mike's a good skater and likes to go fast because his hair blows in the wind. Mike doesn't like to. be messed with when he's on the ice, and I don't think I've ever seen somebody mess with him twice. Mike says: "Come on out Monday nights at 7:30 p.m. to see some great en- tertainment. We're one of the top teams in the league right now, and we want to put on a show for you.
