"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, December 6, 1994 - 89 Teachers announce bursaries Durham Region Superannu- ated Teachers of Ontario held its annual autumn business and dinner meeting at the An- nandale Golf and Country Club on Nov. 1. President Jim Kirkaldy called the meeting to order at noon, following a social hour which had provided opportuni- ties for members to renew ac- quaintances and re-establish old friendships. The highlight of the business meeting was the awarding of seven bursaries of $500 each to selected. Durham College stu- dents who had graduated from Durham high schools. This cul- minated one of the projects which STO District 28 chose to help celebrate its 25th anniver- sary. The seven recipients joined the 170 members present for a delicious roast beef dinner. Winners of the bursaries were: Kimberley Archer, Bow- manville H.S.; Jennifer Hud- gins, Cartwright H.S. Dennis July, O'Neill H.S.; Kristal Kel- lett, Bowmanville H.S.; Sonia Lanzilotti, Paul Dwyer H.S.; Rob Leth, Eastdale H.S.; Elton Gomans, Courtice H.S.. After dinner entertainment was provided by a talented choir from Pickering High School, under the direction of Jack Tmannetji. STO District 28's upcoming event is a carol-sing and card party held at St. Francis De Sales Church, Church Street, Pickering Village, Ajax, from 2- 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14. Refreshments will be served. All members are welcome.
