PETER HVIDSTEN / PORT PERRY STAR Well known local artist Paul Livingston was on hand to display and explain his work at Native Perspectives over the weekend. Mr. Livingston produces art in acrylic, watercolor and mixed media using native themes in many of his pieces. "I have a strong feeling for the strength depicted in native artwork," Mr. Livingston said Saturday morning. In addition to producing and marketing his original pieces of art, he also finds time to teach art at his studio in Burketon. Mr. Livingston is seen here with two of his recent art pieces. On Dec. 7 the Techstar Ban- tams were at home in Port erry to face the Oshawa Cana- dians. After a bit of a slow start the Techstars got rolling and never looked back. They started off with just less than five minutes to go in the first on a goal by Troy Campbell assisted by Aaron Levy. The first period ended with a 1-0 Techstar lead. Early in the second Oshawa tied it up at one all. Then the Techstars opened the flood gates. They took the 2- 1 lead right off the faceoff when Troy Campbell won it and Ryan Puckrin one-timed it in the net. A minute later Dan Lyons put one in from Ian Parliament and JP Copeland. Later that same shift, Lyons scored again from Copeland and Parliament to makeit4-1. Less than a minute later Dil- lian Weber made some nice moves in the corner, then made a nice pass to Scott Harper who knew exactly when to pinch in from the point and put it in the bottom corner of the net. They made it 6-1 a short time later when Gavin Baxter scored from Campbell and Puckrin. Less than a minute later Campbell scored his second of the game from Baxter and Puckrin. The Techstars went to the dressing room leading 7-1. The flood between the second and third seemed to break their momentum. Oshawa scored in the first minute of period three. The rest of the period the Tech- '"tars looked like they were asleep. Goalie Doug Short was left to stop many shots. The Techstars got their last goal when Weber scored assist- ed by Scott Sanderson and Dave Gainey. " The game ended with an 8-2 win for the Techstars. On Saturday, Dec. 10 the Techstars went to Orono for an exhibition game against Bow- manville. This was a marathon «game consisting of two 15 min- ute periods, a 20 and a 10 min- ute overtime. With head coach Dave Jamie- gon and assistant coach Dunc Ferguson absent, trainer Dave Bentley coached his first game. The only goal of the first was gcored by Bowmanville. Many of you are now feeling the pains of Christmas with what to buy? the financial pinch!, time! and so on. Also re- member by now our merchants are feeling it, too, being over-' worked and dealing with so many customers who are indeci- be cordial and above all thank them for their co-operation and Caesarea news wish them a Merry Christmas. No one benefits from anyone be- ing in an ugly mood. Joke of the week: - A parish- ioner apologized to the minister about her husband walking out during the service. She assured the minister it was nothing he said, but explained her hus- band has had the habit of sleep- walking ever since his youth. Saying of the week re time - we need a sense of the value of 'time, that is, of the best way to divide one's time into one's vari- ous activities. S BILL GINTER Early in the second with Ian Parliament making his debut on defense received a pass from Ryan Puckrin and then passed it out front to Troy Campbell who made no mistake putting it in the net to tie the game. They took the lead 2-1 in the final minute of the second when Campbell put one top corner for his second of the game. Early in the third Bowman- ville tied it up at two. Then with aloose puck beside the Bowmanville goalie, Puck- rin poked it into the net. The goal was assisted by Baxter and Campbell. Bowmanville scored again to tie it at three and send it to O.T. (10 minutes non-sudden death). The game winner was scored on a beautiful tic-tac-toe pass- ing play behind the net. Lyons to Puckrin to Gainey and in the net. Dave Kaminga added some insurance when he took a pass from Scott Sanderson and went around a defenseman and in alone to make it 5-3. Congratulations to Dave Bentley for his first win as head coach. The Techstars next home game is on Wednesday against Uxbridge so come out and sup- port them.
