All had a joyous time together skat- ing on the pond and the lake, during this festive occasion! Alan and Eleanor Cawker of Oshawa were the genial host and hostess for the Cawker Christmas celebration on Sun- day, Christmas Day, with 23 present for a delicious repast and a great visit! Four genera- tions were present for this fes- tive time of year...all enjoying the meaningful time of visiting! Don and Norma Frew hosted their family for the Christmas Day celebration with 25 present for the lovely Christmas dinner - a once-a-year festive occasion. David Shearman con- ducted the lovely service with many much loved Christmas carols sung with Karen Yellow- lees, our organist, at the helm. Information Babyville program beginning again in January The Durham Region Health Department will begin another Information Babyville series on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Information Babyville is a support and information group for mothers and newborns to one-year-old babies. The classes are led by a public health nurse and topics include adjustment to parenthood, nutrition, growth and development, infant dental health, parenting, safety and immunization. ) The eight-week course is held at the Port Perry United Church. There is no charge for the classes and fathers are wel- come to attend. For more information and to register call the Health Department at 852-9161. Mr. Brown and several guests from the hospital staffjoined us. We held a short business meeting. Then Mr. Brown brought greetings from the hos- pital. The expansion is almost done. The main lobby will be open the first week in January. The switchboard the second week. Then the cafeteria. By mid-January, everything should be finished. On Jan. 18, the new gift shop will be opened with refreshments in the cafete- ria. The wool convenor has wool if you wish to knit for the Auxil- 1ary. There were 12 babies born at Community Memorial Hospi- tal in November. Four thank-you notes and four thinking of you cards were sent since the last meeting. Alex and Margaret Ingram led us in a Christmas carol sing- a-long. Then they entertained us with some solos and duets. Joyce Stephenson gave us a de- lightful Christmas reading. Gertie Wanamaker drew the tickets for the afghan and the basket. Chris Cliff won the af- ghan and Sue Roberts the bas- ket. We made $280 from the draw. Gwenyth Thompson handed out the annual December News booklets. A big thank you to Gwenyth for all her work in the preparation of this booklet. Kent Farndale brought us greetings from the Hospital Board. The official opening of the expansion wing will be May 12. There will be tours the en- tire day and coffee in the court- yard. On Wednesday, Jan. 25, there will be a presentation of Weekender Ladies Wear. This will be at Carlan Apartments, 4569 Bigelow St. at 7:30 p.m. Some Auxiliary members are holding this to raise talent mon- ey. We will turn our talent mon- ey in at the April meeting.
