The Canadian Chiropractic Association approached Cana- da Post with a request for the stamp to mark the centennary of the profession. Among Canada Post's argu - ments in its refusal was that Dr. Palmer, who was born in Port Perry, and is the founder of chi- ropractic medicine, left Canada as a teenager and emigrated to the United States. Dr. Greg Dunn, who is lead- ing the campaign for the stamp, said the association will not give up without a fight. He said that the association's request has seen thousands of letters in sup- port gf the stamp. Members of the association along with pa- tients have also written in sup- port of the stamp, as have sever- al MPs. Canada Post receives several hundred requests and sugges- tions for special stamps every L] v = Durharrn Stearn C. \_ LOOSE RUGS . Council's request states that "this country has been at best, neglectful in highlighting the accomplishments of its citi- zens", and that the treatment has been successful in alleviat- ing pain worldwide and are ask- ing for a commemorative stamp to be issued to honor the worthy event. Parking concerns From Page 1 be enough parking under the currentbylaw. : Ward 2 councillor Marilyn Pearce was concerned that with additional staff being hired on for the new classes, additional parking spots would be required daily at the schools. Junior kindergarten also sees a great deal of parent involve- ment as many times several 'parents are in the classroom daily and parking spots would also be required for them. The main concern of council was to see that parking at the schools was still adequate as it did not want to see cars having to be parked on Regional Road 8 or Cragg Road.
