Durham Regional Police acting on a tip from the force in Orillia last week arrested a Brock Township woman on charges of forgery and utter- ing false documents. A couple of weeks ago police reported that three cheques -- two in Scugog Township and one in Brock -- had apparently been stolen from rural mail- boxes. they were later cashed at a bank in Orillia. Durham police made the arrest Feb. 1. Suspect flees A man was in hospital Monday morning after suffer- ing hypothermia when he tried to outrun police. Officers were called to a break-in in progress around 3:25 a.m. Monday (Feb. 6) after a resident upstairs heard someone trying to break in to the Swamp Garage on Hwy. 12 at Reach St., police said. 'By the time officers arrived two suspects had fled in a vehicle, but were seen at a donut shop at the intersection of 12 and 7A in Manchester. A suspect was arrested at Police Report the scene and another man fled, taking off through bush and fields in -20 degree tem- peratures, police said. A man was apprehended a short time later a couple of concessions north. He had to be taken to hospital, where he was being treated for hypothermia Monday morn- ing. Two men from Bowmanville face break and enter charges, and theft as a result of taking a key from a Cannington residence to enter the garage. One of the men has also been charged with carrying a concealed weapon. Tickets stolen ~ Police are seeking a man who stole a sheet of lottery tickets from a Blackstock store Sunday night. Police said a man entered Blackstock Country Convenience around 7:30 p.m. and approached a clerk at the back of the store, asking for an item. The man left the clerk and walked to the front of the store, but grabbed a sheet of scratch and win tickets worth about $150 on his way out. He is described as white, Scugog cheque thefts about five feet seven inches tall with a thin build. He was bundled up in a green parka with the hood pulled up. Legion arrests Two men have been arrest- ed in connection with a break- in last October at the Legion in Port Perry. Barrie OPP arrested the two men last week and charged them with 47 offences, including the break- in here Oct. 28. The two are accused of hit- ting a number of legions, com- munity centre and recreation buildings. Items returned [tems stolen from a Port Perry home last month have been returned, minus the meat. Durham Regional Police said residents of a Shanly St. home that was burglarized sometime between Jan. 21 and 31 received a call last week from a man who said he had found the jewelry and tools that had been stolen, and offered to return them. Everything but some meat that was taken from a freezer was recovered, police said.
