Atoms tie 3-3 On Feb. 12 our Atom A team was on the road to Markham for an exhibition game. D'Arcy Stephens started as cagecop and was sharp on sever- al Markham chances. Justin Moffatt showed lots of agility in a couple of rushes for the "Greens". Markham got on the board first as they had a 2-on-1 ADDRESS: POSTAL CODE: TELEPHONE NUMBER: ( ) ONTARIO HEALTH CARD NO: MALE: FEMALE: DATE OF BIRTH: / / D MY INTERESTED IN TRYING OUT FCR REP TEAM: YES( ) NO( ) SHIRT SIZE: YOUTH: SMALL MEDIUM LARGE ADULT: SMALL MEDIUM LARGE REGISTRATION FEE $50.00 per player plus $20.00 fundraiser $70.00 $130.00 for family of 3 or more plus $40.00 $170.00 *$40.00 fundraiser for 2 or more LATE REGISTRATION FEE As of March 25, 1995 the fees shall be as follows: $65.00 per player plus $20.00 fundraiser $160.00 per family of 3 or more plus $40.00 *$40.00 fundraiser for 2 or more $85.00 $200.00 ~ Registration must be received prior to April 2, 1995 - I. the undersigned parent/guardian of the above named individual, herewith acknowledge and agree that the Port Perry and Distinct Minor Softball Association is released from all claims for damage, loss or injury which may occur while participating in any activity within the Association, as well as during transportation to and from all Association activities. Five minutes later Mike LeFort made a nice pass back to Dane Gray at the point. Dane direct- ed a good low shot at the net and Justin tipped it in to tie the score. A little later, D'Arcy stopped a partial breakaway and Trevor Lance made a good backchecking play. Mike Koury took over the net for Port the rest of the way. He played tough in the second peri- od as did Scott Duncan, Tyler Houthuys and Steven MacLen- nan on defence as Port killed off two consecutive penalties. Jeff Tarbotton and Justin had a rare 2-0 breakaway for Port but were foiled by the Thunder goalie. The second period ended with-. out additional scoring despite lots of hustle by Jamie Smith and Mark Duncan. The Malmonts took charge of their destiny alittle in the third when they went ahead 2-1 as Dean VanCamp made a good pass to Adam Moynes. Adam lifted it over the sprawling goal- ie. Just six seconds later these two reversed things as Adam cut around a defender and fed Dean in the slot for a 3-1 lead. Momentum shifted to Mark- ham at this point as our lads slowed down and were assessed three third period penalties. In total Port incurred five penal- ties to just one for the home team. Markham took advantage of the extra player and scored the tying goal with one minute left. Final score was a "kiss your sis- ter" 3-3 tie. Swamp pulls into second spot With only two regular season games left to play, the final standings are not yet certain as to who will advance to the playoffs. The only thing that's for certain is that the undefeated squad from Brooklin will emerge with the league title. In the first game of this past Sunday, the Framer's Gallery stunned the Blackstock Brewers with a 2-0 shutout of the sec- ond place team and vaulted themselves into the fourth and fi- nal playoff position. The first period went scoreless and it wasn't until four minutes into the final frame when the Gal- lery's Cary Dowson put his team out in front. This lone marker held up until the dying seconds when, with goaltender Larry Reurakas out for the extra attacker, Dowson fed Mike Hoy who had the luxury of it going into the vacated net off a Blackstock defender. The Framer's Glen Archibald picked up his third shutout of the season. The Swampers pulled ahead of Blackstock in the standings as they held off Trader Sam's in a close battle, coming out on top with a 5-3 decision. The Swamp boys pulled ahead by a 3-0 count before the first period had even hit the halfway mark. From the opening faceoff, they charged down the ice with Dan Taylor assisting on the goal by Dale Lown. Less than a minute later, they were ahead by two as Steve Robinson and Brian Po- meroy set up Mike Mole on his first of three. Mole then got number two from Mike Mitchell before Trader's stormed back and tied it up before the end of the period. Jim Gregg got them going as he netted the starter from Derrick Lee. This was fol- lowed closely by a goal from the stick of Mike O'Meara aided by Ken St. Amant. From the faceoff they stormed down the ice with St. Amant finishing the play from Gord Jones. The second period went to the Swampers with Mitchell and Mole notching the final tallies from Pomeroy and Lown with Mole's going in the empty net with just 14 seconds remaining. The as yet to be defeated Brooklin Bruins annihilated Raven Renovations to the tune of 8-0. Believe it or not, this game could have been a lot worse if not for the heroics of Rob Rutschmann in the Raven net. The Bruins split the scoring in half with four in each of the two periods. Kevin Ibbittson scored the first in each of the frames with Nick Attwood drawing an assist on the first one, with Shawn Mitchell and Roger Ramelli getting in on number two. Ron Attwood also added a goal per period as well as an assist in the second half. Mitchell had a pair of goals as well, with singles going to Ken Lynde and Dan Jansma. Adding assists were Nick Attwood with three, followed by Jansma with a pair, along with singles going to Ibbittson and Ramelli. With his league leading seventh, the shutout went to Jim Raaphorst.
