Chamber turns focus on summer activities With temperatures still dipping below -0 and the Snow Flake Festival just days away, directors of the Scugog Chamber of Commerce turned their focus to thoughts of summer last Thursday night. Directors met for the first time this year to discuss this sum- mer's Festival Days activities and to begin plans for the three- day summer festival. The meeting was chaired by Mark Smith, who has been asso- | ciated with the annual festival for many years, and the brain- storming session produced many ideas. Preliminary plans call for the festival to be built around a 50s, 60s Beach Reunion theme, which will be held on July 13, 14, 15. Once again a large tent will be erected in Palmer Park which will be the focus of major attractions, and parts of Queen and Water Streets will be blocked off to traffic for two days. Directors decided to ask the midway owners to expand the midway this summer. The main area located on the old "arena pad" parking lot (as in past years), but an area further south on Water St., designated as "Kiddies Corner," would feature rides for young children. Many other ideas were discussed and many more are needed. Anyone wishing to help organize or who have suggestions are welcome to contact the Scugog Chamber of Commerce.
