Scugog Township councillors seem adamant that they will not allow the development to proceed without the slated golf course, but are willing to hear - developers plans to replace the 9-hole course with a park plan. "Councillors seem pretty ada- mant the golf course must stay. It was a selling point in the plan," Mayor Howard Hall said. Gary Moore, a principle mem- ber of West Shore Development, which is proposing the 65-room full service retirement home and 35-cluster home develop- ment, said they do not want to encroach on the environmental protected area at the rear of the property and they feel the two ponds on the property will help deal with any problems. "We respect that area and have every intention of leaving it in its natural state," Mr. Moore told the Star. There are also two prolific frog ponds on the property which they would also like to see preserved.
