With that mild g three weeks in January the fish- ermen got short changed this year due to the ice being unsafe. etter luck next year. Two weeks ago I saw robins like everyone else. This week I noticed one back picking at my flowering crab tree. The sad part there, was no food. That iller frost we had last spring distroyed the blossoms which resulted in little or no plumbs, pears, apples or cherries. I cut up some apples and put them on the picnic table. Friday I saw 12 to 16 morning doves flying around our area. One couple al- ways build their next at eye lev- el in our blue spruce year after year. Saying of the week re free- om: Men are not prisoners of fate, but only prisoners of their own mind. Joke of the week: The ship- wrecked Mariner had spent sev- eral years on a deserted island. Then one day he was thrilled to see a ship off shore and a small- er vessel pulling out toward him. When the boat grounded on the beach the officer in charge handed the marooned sailor a bundle of newspapers and told him, "with the cap- tain's complements." He said to read through these and let us know if you still want to be res- cued. She always did a great Job and I was always able to get her to take up the challenge. We always had a lot of fun getting her to agree to serve again. The second sad note I have this week is the passing of Ho- ward Lee who has been in poor health for many years. We all know his loving wife Dorothy who is so active in many things in the community of Nestleton, Blackstock and Caesarea.
