That i8 to use their music talents and connections to help Scugog Township. The Rebel Entertainment partners have been very busy in the music world, but feel Port Perry has forgotten about them. Rebel Entertainment, for- merly Rebel D.J. Services, is a member of the Toronto Pro- grammers Association, which the partners say is an exclusive club with only 35 members. Their membership has kept them busy witk promotion work as well as hosting record release parties. Mr. McEachern took partin a special contest last week where 40 D.J.s from across Ontario took part in a Quality Records D.J. Mega-Mix Competition in conjunction with Canadian Mu- sic Week. Although he did not expect to win, the opportunity to compete with some of the best in the business was worth the time involved. The duo has been busy over the past year after being forced to give up their commitment to "Shakers", a club in Peterbo- rough. When not spinning records the two are busy promoting stars of the music world. They promote live acts and line up appropriate acts for par- ticular venues as well as help- ing clubs to organize special theme nights. The two are "happy" with their job now, but Mr. McEach- ern for one would like to some day manage or own his own es- tablishment and have free reign of the events that take place there. "Right now we are just stay- ing connected with the indus- ry," he said. Locally the duo will be doing some work in Port Perry this summer, including the Fields of Dreams ball tournament, the three-on-three basketball tour- nament at Festival Days and they recently hosted "Portapoo- loza", an event which gave lo- cals bands the chance to show- case their talent to record label executives. But, they want to come home more often and help keep Scu- gogentertained. "We hope to do more work lo- cally.
