These programs include drop-in centres, toy lend- ing and resource libraries, access to a caregiver regis- try and parent/caregiver education through books and workshops. Best of all these programs provide parents, caregivers and children with the opportu- nity to meet and interact in a friendly environment to the benefit of all. At the community level, we are well-known for our promo- tion of farm safety, family values and overall com- munity awareness. The first program (be- gan in 1987) was to pro- vide seasonal on-farm quality child care to create a safe environment for children and to eliminate one of the stress factors af- fecting farm families. This program has now been ex- panded to include play days. : The federal government was impressed with the work done by DFRFR to address rural family needs in Durham.
