He has visited Port Perry on numerous occasions since then, in- cluding 1945 when the statue to Palmer was un- veiled in Palmer Park. Dr. Palmer's presenta- tion included slides show- ing those and other events in the history of Chiro- practic, Daniel David Palmer and Port Perry it- self. Dr. Lee announced to the audience that plans were being pursued to see if the Palmer Homestead, can be moved to the Mu- seum Grounds on Scugog Island. The house is now located on Old Simcoe Road just north of Queen Street. There is a consider- able amount of enthu- siasm for the project among the members of the Chiropractic Association, he said. The house is presently a partial museum and is owned by the Palmer Trust in Davenport Iowa, where Palmer established Chiropractic 100 years ago. Certain legal hurdles have to be overcome before such a plan can be put into effect and it may take a year or more before it can be putinto place. If the Homestead is lo- cated on the grounds of Scugog Shores Museum, it for the whole family Port Perry Dental Centre is proud to provide its patients with state of the art care in a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere, and also offer these services. "Relaxation Techniques + Nitrous Oxide (gas) + Cosmetic Bonding + Emergency Care + Insurance Assignments + Evening and Saturday Appointments would be more accessible to the public and on a site more conducive to tourists and historians. "A most beautiful and appropriate setting," he said. This relocation would be similar to Green- field Village in Detroit, where Thomas Edison and Henry Ford's workshops have been relocated. Scugog Shores Museum would then be the gather- ing point for admirers of Palmer and Jimmy Freise. He also announced plans for the recondition- ing of the statue to Palmer on Port Perry's water- front. It has deteriorated over the years and The Durham Chiropractic As- sociation has taken this on as their project for this an- niversary year. The statue is to be cleaned and a new foundation and granite base is to be built at a cost of close to $10,000. Three major conven- tions for Chiropractors are to be held this year. The first at Toronto on May 31 to June 3 at the Harbour Castle, the second in Washington on July 7 and - 8 and the third in Daven- port Iowa on Sept. 16, 17 and 18. The Township of Scu- gog, as the birthplace of Palmer, will be represent- ed at all three events. Chi- ropractors from all over the world visit Port Perry to see his hometown.
